Zero salt, sugar or alcohol, and the intake of fresh fruits helps me not having to drink any water. By now it does not feel like a diet, more like I could not imagine living any other way!
Hi and good morning,
My journey to a new life-style and losing a lot of weight all started with me deciding to care for my health as a life-priority. Though I took Pre-Med Health-Science classes in college and I Aced nutrition, anatomy & physiology, the secret answer to natural weight loss was not discovered until I put my own eating habits vs. exercise to the test. I was 209 lbs and I decided that this can not go on unattended. At first I thought working out at the gym it’s what is all about, however I noticed that I’m always more hungry after a workout, which did not help controlling my eating habits. So I gave it a try to change that and stopped exercising heavily and instead I started a 30-45 minute easy walk every day. This routine became very easy and did not leave me starved hungry afterwords.
Then, my first step in changing what I was consuming begun with completely quitting drinking any kind of alcohol. I researched this very important detail online and discovered that even a sip of any kind of alcoholic drink blocks the liver from digesting fat. And so I noticed that if I drank even just a minute quantity of alcoholic drink, even just a little bit of light beer, losing weight could not happen for at least a month. This was very difficult for me at first, because unfortunately I was a heavy drinker before, which made me realize that I have to change my life, otherwise it will not be a very long one…
So replacing heavy drinking first started with drinking wine. That helped me to gradually drinking less and less until I was able to let it go.
Then the second step I did was stop eating any kind of food containing gluten, i.e.; bread, pasta, pizza, crackers, cakes and cookies in other words everything and anything that had wheat in it. This was also very difficult at first, so replacing wheat flour with corn flour was easier. I started to realize that this replacement strategy is very helpful because our bodies are natural survivors, our instincts dictate eating more than what we need all the time, so the trick is giving our bodies drinks and foods that are not high in carbohydrates.
The great battle in this strategy is also worth mentioning, starts with things we buy at the grocery store. We will eat what is at home, and one way to avoid having unges is not having food and drink items at our reach. So if we can decisively select the things we buy to consume and avoid things we know will not help, will help.
At the next phase I begun eating less and less foods that were high in carbs. Drinking any kind of beverages containing sugar is also in this category, so I either stopped drinking them all together or in coffees and teas I put honey instead.
The following step I took was stopping to eat any foods containing carbs, and started to eat fruits and vegetables with some kind of lean protein with olive oil on everything. Butter and other animal fats are very high in bad colesterol, which is not helping to keep our circulatory system in good shape, so I replaced them with vegetable oils.
Stop salting and stop eating any foods containing salt was another step I took. Salt in any quantity holds water in our bodies, which causes unnecessary water weight, which we do not need, and so simply by stop consuming salt can help lose 5–10 lbs in just a few days.
After a few months of keeping to these replacement routines my health improved tremendously, I lost 85 lbs alltogether, and once practicing the last step I mentioned above I lost 1 lbs every single day. After only 3 months I was 124 lbs, and I said Ok I’m good.
