In the 24 years of being a nail therapist, this is the first time I’ve ever been told I was unable to work. Pre- Covid-19, I was working very part-time with several of my clients , that I am proud to call my friends. Obviously I’m not considered essential, but it was more than just the nails (for me at least lol) , I definitely miss having the conversations and face to face. Something so simple as getting your nails can make you feel happy, beautiful and polished.

I just wanted to reach out during this time that you are unable to get your nails done and give some tips.

- Artificial nails with regular polish , take off polish and soak nails in acetone. They will melt off.

- Artificial nails with gel polish , you would need to file off the top layer of clear coat and soak in acetone .

- UV gel nails with gel polish , just trim (cutting side to side , NOT straight across) and file down and let grow off.

- Gel Manicures , take an Emory board and roughen up the clear coat or top layer and soak in acetone. Suggest soaking off one hand at a time, so you have one hand free.

*** Anytime you go through long periods of not getting your nails redone you risk getting a fungus and your nails will start to crack and break. When the nail pulls away from your natural nail , that is called lifting and water can get trapped. If you start to see a discoloration, that is a sure sign that you need to take them off.
