Why should you avoid those mass produced bars of soap you typically use?

First and foremost, mass produced "soap" at your super market is not soap at all (check the label if you don't believe me). They throw all kinds of funny wording on label (body wash, body bar, beauty bar, etc) except "soap". The reason why is that they are comprised of detergents and chemicals used to generate lather, scent, and firm up the bars. The trouble is these chemicals and detergents are hard on your skin and can dry them out (not to mention expose you to questionable compounds).

Here's a great example - The ingredients for the Dove Men's Bar are: Sodium Lauroyl Isethionate, Stearic Acid, Sodium Tallowate or Sodium Palmitate, Sodium Stearate, Water (Aqua), Sodium Isethionate, Lauric Acid, Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Sodium Cocoate or Sodium Palm Kernelate, Fragrance (Parfum), Dipropylene Glycol, Sodium Chloride, Propylene Glycol, Microcrystalline, Wax, Tetrasodium EDTA, Tetrasodium Etidronate, Green 5 (CI 61570), Iron Oxides (CI 77499), Red 30 Lake (CI 73360), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Yellow 5 (CI 19140), Yellow 6 (CI 15985), Yellow 5 Lake (CI 19140).

Welcome to Peak City Soaps. As this is out first post I wanted to share a couple of things about us!

1 - This business started with a specific purpose, to help people enjoy the feeling of all natural handmade soaps. Our focus is on turning a routine shower or hand wash where the soap is filled with chemicals into a nice experience with all natural soaps. Better for you and your skin!

2 - The name Peak City Soaps, comes from our hometown of Apex, NC which is commonly known as the Peak of Good Living. We wanted a name that paid tribute to our small town while also having cool mountains as a logo 😊
