Toners. Toners dont make your hair darker unless that is the intention. Nor do they make you a ‘blonde’!! Toners change the tone- which is the color you are seeing reflected- they correct for desired cool or warm ‘tones’. For example- blondes-Marilyn Monroe icy blonde is hair that has been lightened to the highest level: pale yellow and has been toned with violet to cancel the yellow, resulting in a very ‘icy’ or white color- very ‘cool’ on the color wheel. . It seems many now believe purple shampoo is some miracle product to make you look like an icy white blonde like Mariyn. There is no truth in that. Your hair has to be lightened to a nice, even color resembling the color of the INSIDE of a banana before the ‘purple shampoo’ can do it’s magic.
