Almost exactly 10 years ago, my coworker, friend, and sister from another mister, Alexa, and I took a leap together. We left the traditional salon setting and ventured into the world of suite ownership, bringing our individual chair-rental businesses into a small suite in Apple Valley.

After three years there, we moved into a larger space in September 2019 and have called it home ever since. SalonsbyJC has given us an incredible place to grow, build our businesses, and connect with so many amazing clients and fellow professionals. So much so, that three years ago, we expanded into a two suites to create even more space and comfort for our clients.

Many of you already know that for the last four to five years, Alexa and I have been searching for a salon space of our own. While we were committed to continuing to grow our individual businesses, we also dreamed of building something together. We came close more times than we can count, but each time, something shifted and our plans changed. Looking back now, it's funny how life has a way of redirecting us when we think we know exactly where we're headed.

Sometimes the doors that close aren't meant to stop us—they're meant to guide us somewhere new.

Recently, two incredible opportunities found their way to each of us. While both opportunities were exciting, it became clear that one wasn't the right fit for both of us.
So after consideration, we've decided to pursue those paths.

When September arrives, Alexa and I will be heading in different directions professionally.

While this decision is bittersweet, it comes with nothing but love, respect, and gratitude. I am saddened by the end of this chapter, but incredibly grateful for the nearly 10 years we've shared building our businesses side by side. Through every challenge, success, laugh, and lesson, I couldn't have asked for a better partner on this journey.

I am also genuinely excited for what lies ahead for Alexa. She will finally have the opportunity to bring so many of her creative ideas and dreams for a salon to life, and I know she will do amazing things.

She will continue operating under the name "Oh Snip!"—the name we've proudly shared for the past seven years—and I can't wait to watch her next chapter unfold.

To my clients, thank you for your support, loyalty, and trust throughout the years. I am so grateful for each of you, and while things may look a little different moving forward, I’m hopeful about what the future holds. I will inform you all soon enough on where I’m heading.

22 years of doing hair and I’ve never had someone accidentally leave with my phone. Today not only did my first client accidentally take my phone and have to come back and give it back to me, but it actually happened again later on in the day with another client. He also had to drive back to bring my phone back to me.
What are the odds?!
Should I go get a lottery ticket or take it as a sign to throw my phone in a drawer somewhere and not look at it for a day? 😂
