💄 The average woman consumes over 7 pounds of lipstick in her lifetime (there’s no firm way of knowing this but it’s an eye opening stat that floats around…but you do for sure consume a partial amount of whatever you put on your lips).
💄 There are no safe levels of lead, a powerful neurotoxin, which has been linked to neurological and developmental issues, infertility, and hormonal irregularities. It has been banned from paint but is still found in 61% of lipsticks still on the market…something we put directly on our mouth!!
💄 A 2010 FDA study found lead in 400 lipsticks.
💄 Lead is not the only concern—other heavy metals such as aluminum were found in most major lip products.

Time to be vulnerable.

I’ve always been self conscious of my thighs. Especially in biker shorts. They are tight and they cut in weird places. But being a cyclist and a spin instructor they are useful item in my wardrobe. So here I am repping the shorts. Instead of focusing on my appearance I’m going to focus on what these legs can do for me.
•
These legs allow me to teach 10+ classes a week. On top of teaching, I can train and race triathlons. And most importantly they help me chase after my always moving toddler. These legs are strong and powerful and let me stand confidently.

When you start dwelling on your appearance and you let negative self talk take over switch that attitude. What are you capable of right now? What makes you stronger? What allows you to do the things you love?

So your sunscreen has been recalled, now what?
•
Start to educate yourself on the ingredients that SHOULD be in your sunscreen. Zinc oxide + titanium dioxide are the only active ingredients in mineral based sunscreens. These will help reflect the sun’s rays away from the skin.

Throw away those recalled sunscreens and make the switch the mineral based sunscreen. It’s summer for the next couple of months + we should be wearing sunscreen even in the winter so there’s still a lot of sunscreen to be worn.

A small change like this can add up. Don’t wait for another product that you use daily to be recalled for toxic ingredients. Take stock of what you are running out of or something that you use the most often and make the decision to switch to something safer. Little by little you can swap your products out and it will make a difference.

Taught REVIVE this morning. Yoga is such a perfect way to finish the weekend and get ready for a new week. Our focus today was knowing that what we do, we are enough. We don’t be need to be perfect everyday. We just need to be true to ourselves.
