STOP blaming your client’s skin when the pigment doesn’t stay.
“She has difficult skin.” “Her skin doesn’t take pigment.” “Her skin just pushes the pigment out.”
I hear these explanations far too often.
But here’s the truth: skin is not the problem we should automatically blame.
Different skin types require different decisions — different needle configurations, hand pressure, speed, depth, pigment choice, saturation strategy, and sometimes an entirely different technique.
A skilled PMU artist doesn’t expect every skin type to respond the same way.
We read the skin. We adapt to it. We change our technique.
So before saying, “Your skin doesn’t hold pigment,” ask yourself:
Did I choose the right technique for THIS skin?
Did I work at the correct depth?
Was my movement and pressure appropriate?
Did I create enough saturation without overworking the tissue?
Great healed results don’t come from blaming the skin.
They come from understanding it.
That’s the difference between simply performing permanent makeup and truly mastering your craft.
