This August was definitely one for the books. Let’s recap!
-I opened my own facial studio 🥹
-I had a successful first month of being open thanks to my amazing clients allowing me to just be me ✨
-My husband has been able to follow his dream and passions.
-we went from dodging bicyclists in the city to animal crossing in the sticks.
-my whole family got together (successfully) on a boat to celebrate my moms 50-10th birthday 💜
-Trix now has a dog she’s skeptical of, windows galore and a beautiful scenery.

And this is only the beginning of this chapter!

It’s officially the end of an era 🌀

Today marks the 11 years anniversary of me being an esthetician inside a corporate franchise… and honestly? I don’t even know how to put that into words. Fresh out of esthetics school, at 20 y/o, thinking I was walking into an esthetician position — only to realize the location I was hired at didn’t even offer facials. At all. So I worked the front desk. Some of you watched me go from employee, to assistant manager, to stressed-out manager, back to assistant manager… while still somehow being everyone’s estie bestie, emotional support person, educator, and hype woman. Well, that’s probably why. I started bouncing between locations just to get hands-on experience because I was determined to grow into the esthetician I knew I could be.
I pushed for skincare conversations.
I pushed for education. I pushed for facial services to actually matter.

And from there, I built my own clientele from the ground up in a place where facials didn’t even exist before me. And somewhere along the way… they started offering facials, yeah, I’ll tap myself on the back for that 🫠

That place became my second home for over a decade. I grew up there. Anything you can possibly imagine happened there.
Which is why this is bittersweet, because despite what people may think — I don’t hate the people. I don’t hate my clients, coworkers, managers, or even the location itself.

What I struggled with was the corporate side of the business. And the bigger problem is that this wasn’t my business to struggle with. The restrictions. The lack of flexibility.
The constant limitations on creativity, education, services, content, and growth.
I love helping people feel comfortable in their skin. I love educating. I love creating connections. I love making treatment rooms feel human instead of clinical.
But over time, I realized something, I had outgrown the corporate version of this industry.
