If I could go back and start over as a beginner hairstylist and makeup artist, these are the three things I would do differently.

1. I would’ve invested in courses sooner.
I spent years in trial and error trying to figure out what actually works. Everything I learned the hard way could’ve been learned faster and perfected over time. All those years teaching myself I could have been using to perfect what I had been taught in a short time which would have also allowed me to get to the big money much faster! That’s why I now teach through digital courses and hands on education so people can learn the right way from the start. I also share this entire journey in my book From the Ground Up.

2. I would’ve kept a regular job until I was ready to go full time. Trying to fund the business with the business caused unnecessary stress and burnout. Steady income while building creates more peace and momentum. I talk about this phase in From the Ground Up and I coach this mindset inside my courses so students can build smarter.

3. I would’ve gone to cosmetology school earlier.
By the time I enrolled, I already had a full clientele. So much so that when I went to school I found myself teaching many things to the class and also the instructors.. I found my real gift was teaching and breaking things down in a way anyone can understand. That’s the foundation of how I structure my courses today.
