I don’t care what you do for a living. Hair, makeup, esthetician, tattoo artist, banker, lawyer, doctor etc…. If you’re not mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally well- you will not be able to function properly.

It’s not easy to be all of this but take a look at what area you need to invest more in. For me- it’s my Emotional health that needs a little more attending to.

Blessed to say that I’ve been in the beauty business for 22 years and still at it. God has blessed me with some wonderful clients that I’ve grown to love and respect.

If you’re fairly new in the business and looking for a long time career, here’s some advice you didn’t ask for 👋🏽

Be your true self so you’ll build a clientele that’s suited just for you.

Pretending to be something you’re not all day everyday is extremely exhausting.

Treat your clients well.

Show up on time.

If you’re going to be late, let them know.

If you’re in the wrong, admit it.

If you have a client that’s difficult to deal with, speak up for yourself and cut ties. Your mental health is just as important.

It’s very possible to make a career out of doing hair without having to work another job.

You just need to be patient and stop thinking you already know everything.

Here’s to a good life in a beautiful industry!
