This week’s tip is a little different… because I want to hear YOURS.

This holiday weekend reminded me how important it is to actually give ourselves permission to stop.

I worked a wedding Saturday, finished way earlier than expected, and instead of finding something else I “needed” to do, I took the rest of the weekend off.

I relaxed. I spent time with family. I wasn’t worried about work or being productive.

And it was exactly the reset I needed.

So today’s Tip Tuesday is about SELF CARE.

Greasy by day two… or let’s be real, sometimes by the end of day ONE? 😩

Before you blame your scalp, take a look at your routine.

Overwashing, heavy products, conditioner at the roots and product buildup can all leave your hair feeling oily faster than it should.

One of my favorite easy fixes? Double shampoo. The first cleanse helps break through oil, dry shampoo and buildup. The second actually gets in there and cleanses your scalp.

And remember, the shampoo that works for your best friend might not be the right shampoo for YOU.

TIP TUESDAY ✨ Why won’t my hair hold a curl?!

You curl it. It looks PERFECT. You’re feeling yourself… and 30 minutes later your hair is basically straight again. 😩

Before you blame your curling iron, there are a few things that could actually be happening.

🔥 More heat isn’t always better.
Cranking your iron all the way up can cause unnecessary damage without giving you better hold. Fine, fragile or color-treated hair especially doesn’t need extreme heat to create a curl.

🫧 Your hair might actually be TOO soft.
Freshly washed, heavily conditioned hair can be super slippery. Curls need a little grip! Try going lighter on conditioner, curling on second-day hair, or adding a lightweight mousse or texture spray before styling.

💨 Make sure your hair is completely dry.
And I mean completely. Any moisture left inside the hair can cause your curl to fall almost immediately—and putting a hot iron on damp hair is a big no.

🤏 Watch your section size.
If you’re wrapping huge sections around your iron, the heat can’t distribute evenly through all that hair. Smaller, cleaner sections usually give you a much longer-lasting result.

🧊 LET. IT. COOL.
This might be the biggest one! Your curl is still setting as it cools. If you immediately rake your fingers through it, brush it or shake it out while it’s warm, you’re stretching it out before it ever gets a chance to set.

✂️ And sometimes…the problem is your haircut.
If your hair has gotten heavy, your ends are overdue or your shape has completely grown out, that extra weight can pull your curls down. Sometimes the answer isn’t another styling product—it’s getting some movement back into your cut.

✨ My favorite rule:
Curl it → cool it → THEN break it up.

And remember: not every head of hair needs the same temperature, products, iron size or technique. Your hair’s density, texture, condition AND haircut all play a part.

Save this one for the next time your curls decide they don’t want to cooperate. 💾💗
