For 20+ years, people have asked me if I had extensions.

I’ve always had naturally thick, curly hair, so I never thought extensions would be something I would need personally.

And honestly…as cheesy as it sounds, I was always flattered when people called me “Becky with the good hair.” Especially as a hairstylist with all natural hair.🤍

I loved working on extension transformations for my clients. But when I decided that if I truly wanted to master extensions, I needed to fully understand them — not just how they looked the day they were installed, but how they felt to live in every day. How they feel and move. How they wear over time. How much work they take to maintain.

What I didn’t expect was how personal that journey would become.

After moving to AVL, COVID, hormone changes, stress, and weight fluctuations, I experienced major hair loss. And even as a hairstylist, I didn’t fully know how to navigate it physically or emotionally. My initial extension experiment turned into the most transformative confidence boost I never expected.

Our bodies change rapidly and the reality of aging hit me to my core unexpectedly. Hair loss affected my confidence more than I ever imagined.

Extensions gave me back the hair fullness I had always know and made me feel years younger! More than that, they gave me a deeper understanding of what so many women quietly feel when hair loss leaves them no longer feeling like themselves.

So now, when I talk to clients about extensions, I’m not just speaking from education or technique. I’m speaking from personal experience.

Extensions are not always about wanting “more hair.”

Sometimes they’re about feeling like yourself again. 🤍
