Been crafting a lot lately, it allows me to take a break from doom scrolling and escape into a magical world where possibilities are endless.

Yes my hair is beautiful. It took me a long time to feel that way, after years of chemical relaxers and straightening my hair.

Yes my hair is soft. I pour love into her. Something else that’s taken me a long time to do in more ways than one.

I wear my crown with pride now.

It is not an invitation to touch my hair. Consent and boundaries is a beautiful thing.

This took 5 hours, sometimes big transformations take more time, sometimes less. It helped that we shaved off 2/3 of her hair before coloring otherwise I’m sure it would have taken closer to 7 hours.

My next big opening for a transformative hair color is April 29th. If you’re thinking of a big change let’s make it happen!!

Before her first visit she was regularly using purple shampoo, even her natural had a slight violet hue to it. You can see her blonde looked a bit dark and dull.

Remember in my last post when I mentioned cool tones like ash and violet absorb light? Where warm or neutral blondes look brighter even if they’re the same level of lightness.

Personally purple shampoos are not my go to, I’ve had more negative experiences with it than positive. I used to love them till I noticed it staining my blondes hair then leaving warm hues when lifting over it.

I recommend my guests coming in for a toner or glaze between visits to keep their preferred blonde tones. If you prefer home upkeep a color condition is way less aggressive and doesn’t stain the hair as much. Although I have heard of stylists having issues lifting over “Overtone”

Basically any home color whether it be shampoo, conditioner, toner, vivids etc can be problematic if not applied properly. And let’s face it, we go to a professional for a reason right? Very few of us can successfully color our own hair. Including myself, I’ve taught my husband how to color my hair 😄

I love when there’s an undercut that takes away nearly half of the hair and you would never know. It’s a great option for folks who have a ton of hair and want a sleek bob or want to cut down on styling time
