When I went back to cosmetology school as an instructor, my eyes were open to just how much has to fit into 1600 hours.

Color theory, cutting, sanitation (I hate the smell of barbicide) mock state board and somehow trying to prepare students for an entire career.

There honestly just isn’t enough time to teach much beyond what it takes to earn a license.

And I started to see the gap. I loved working with my senior students and found myself wanting to teach them the things that came after passing state board. How to formulate when a teacher isn’t standing right beside you, what to do when something doesn’t go as planned and how to build a clientele when you start with zero. I wanted them to feel prepared, not just licensed.

That experience became a huge part of why RHM HAIR CO | Asheville Hair Extensions exists today. Our assistant program was intentionally built to help fill the gap between cosmetology school and confidently standing behind your own chair.
