I’m a believer in clarifying shampoos. Most, if not all, of my clients are encouraged to use a clarifying shampoo as a part of their hair routine.

Curls and textured hair of different types require different kinds of products. One thing I teach often is: just because you’re a curly girl does not mean you should only use “curl products.” I’m very diverse in my approach and often use volumizing products depending on the hair’s needs.

The secret to a successful curl routine and healthy textured hair is your products. You can be doing everything right moisturizing, styling correctly, protecting your hair and still struggle because the products you’re using are working against you instead of for you.

Let’s start with the foundation: clarifying shampoo. It is a MUST in everyone’s cabinet. Product buildup, oils, hard water, butters, and heavy creams can sit on the hair and scalp over time, preventing moisture from properly penetrating the hair shaft.

Clarifying shampoos help reset the hair. They cleanse deeply, refresh the scalp, restore movement, and allow your products to actually work effectively again.

This year on Mother’s Day, I sit back and reflect on how much I have grown into motherhood. I remember feeling defeated on most days and wondering if I was even a good mother. As mothers, we can sometimes be so hard on ourselves.

Motherhood is a high calling. It may not always be something the world celebrates as important, but it is one of the most powerful forms of spiritual transformation. It is a ministry that cultivates your heart and leaves rewards for generations to come.

Every year, every sacrifice, and every hard day builds the strength we need to become who God has equipped us to be nurturing, loving, patient, kind, steadfast, merciful, wise, and full of the spiritual fruits that bring a smile to God’s face.

To all the mothers, especially the women I have had the honor to serve: we have more in common than a haircut or a facial. We are mothers carrying experiences that can uplift an entire generation of young people who need us. We can mother our own children and still turn around and nurture children who have never experienced the love of a mother.

Do not take this high calling lightly. Motherhood is more than just a role it is purpose, ministry, legacy, and love that lives forever.
