This post is for Lori. She joined Evolve a little over a year ago and has never ceased to impress me with her passion for knowledge, her commitment to growing as an esthetician, and her care and dedication to her clients. She has a deeply nurturing touch that is so kind and loving. She is just one of those pure souls.

She lost her home in the flooding from Helene. She has humbly not asked for a single thing. I set up a Gofundme to support the entire Evolve team while they are out of work, but also to help Lori since she has been hit the hardest.

Many of you have asked how you can help the Evolve team directly after the devastation from Hurricane Helene. While I am thankfully fine with no home or business damage, my team of estheticians are all out of work for the foreseeable future as our studio remains closed until services are restored to the city of Asheville. Lori has sadly lost her home and is currently in temporary housing. Others have left town for the time being to have access to water and power. All of these sudden changes are having a financial impact on the women that make Evolve what it is. If you feel compelled, I am sure any amount will be deeply appreciated. Energy vortexes are believed to have powerful spiritual properties or be highly conducive to spiritual activities like prayer, meditation, and healing. Many vortexes are reported to bring feelings of peace, harmony, balance, and tranquility, while others are believed to promote personal reflection, deep insight, and a clear mind. Others still act as powerful centers of physical or emotional rejuvenation.

Sometimes seen as “thin places" between our familiar world and other dimensions, vortices are said to abound in the Asheville area. Many believe that ancient energy paths intersect here, similar to Sedona, Arizona (we share the same latitude).

Can’t we all just eat a “human” diet? As a former vegan, vegetarian, and paleo eater, I know the sense of pride and even identity that can come with following a set of dietary guidelines. It can become part of who you are (hello, IG bio), and not in a healthy way. Yes, you are what you eat, but you are not HOW you eat. You are so much more!

If you’re vegan and find yourself craving meat or eggs, have them! Eradicate that notion of cheating or failure if you do so. If you’re eating loads of protein and carbs and feel like you need a break, plants can be so healing and detoxifying. A diverse diet is a healthy diet.

I will never push one particular way of eating because I think they all can be beneficial for periods of time. (Aside from the Standard American Diet 😂)

I DO recommend eating organic whenever possible, local and in season foods, well sourced animal products (grass-fed and organic or wild whenever possible), and avoiding added sugar and processed foods as much as possible.

Most importantly, listen first and foremost to YOUR body. It’s pretty easy to get influenced by social media and food documentaries, because they want to convince you of something. The truth is, it’s not so black and white like they want you to believe, and good food choices ultimately just come down to how it’s sourced, whether it be plant or animal.
