Cupping is a practice that involves using a cup and creating a vacuum to promote circulation, encourage lymph drainage, and reduce fascial restrictions and resulting adhesions, among other benefits. The practice can be performed statically (where the cup remains on tissue for a period of time) or dynamically (where the practitioner will move the cup on the tissue.) Cups are intrinsically decompressive, whereas massage is naturally compressive.

We now offer Gua Sha!

Gua sha is a practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It involves the use of a scraping tool (with oil or gel,) such as a spoon or a stone. The practitioner uses the tool by scraping an area in fast, short bursts. There is a visual component to this treatment as the scraping motion encourages fresh circulation that results in a red mark that can be present from 30 minutes to 2 weeks after treatment. The intention is to reduce fascial stagnation and resulting adhesions, promote lymphatic flow, increase circulation, decrease inflammation, among other benefits!
