NatGeo and the NY Times recently published articles about how science and research is now revealing measurable changes in the body during treatments.

->Acupuncture is no longer just ancient wisdom as modern imaging can now measure what changes in the body during treatment

->More researchers are recognizing that acupuncture creates measurable physiological changes not just a placebo effect

->If your pain feels real but your scans don't explain it, acupuncture works with the nervous system not just the injury

->Pain relief doesn't always have to start with medications, injections or surgery

->Acupuncture doesn't just treat the pain; it helps regulate the stress keeping pain stuck

->Your body already has a built-in pain relief system; Acupuncture helps activate it

->Acupuncture helps regulate the body systems that keep pain cycles active: stress, inflammation, tension and nervous system overload

->Science is beginning to validate what millions of acupuncture patients have experienced for years: real relief is possible without invasive treatment

->Before injections, surgery, or opioids try the least invasive option first...try

From PCOS to PMOS: A Shift Toward Whole-Body Healthcare

For years, Polycystic O***y Syndrome has been viewed primarily as a reproductive condition. But many healthcare professionals are now reframing it as PMOS — PolyMetabolic O***y Syndrome — a change that reflects a much broader understanding of women’s health.

This evolution matters because it acknowledges something many patients have experienced for years: the symptoms of PCOS extend far beyond the ovaries.

Hormonal imbalance, insulin resistance, inflammation, chronic stress, nervous system dysregulation, sleep disruption, fatigue, pain, and metabolic health are all deeply interconnected. The shift to PMOS recognizes that this is not simply a gynecological issue. It’s a whole-body condition.

At Thrive, this perspective aligns closely with how we approach healthcare.

Rather than isolating symptoms, integrative care looks at the relationship between the nervous system, hormones, metabolism, inflammation, stress, movement, and recovery. Therapies such as Acupuncture, Chiropractic, and Massage Therapy can play a supportive role in helping the body regulate more effectively as a whole.

For many women navigating PMOS, addressing stress patterns, nervous system overload, chronic tension, circulation, sleep quality, and inflammation can become an important part of feeling better, just managing symptoms.

The move from PCOS to PMOS represents more than a name change. It reflects a growing recognition that women’s health is complex, interconnected, and deserving of a more comprehensive, compassionate approach to care.

Two months ago, this hike felt almost impossible.

Social media loves to show the summit photo, the view, the smile, the victory.
But rarely do we talk about what it took to get there.

So here’s what this mountain actually required:

24 workouts
Daily 1-mile walks
3 massages
3 chiropractic adjustments

Countless moments of pushing through fatigue, doubt, and discomfort

All so I could stand at the top of the Old Rag Mountain loop with my son.

The All Trails app calls it a strenuous hike and says that it is 9.3 miles. My watch clocked 10.3.

Were there tears? Yes.
Was I scared? Absolutely.
Did I still do it? YES.
Was it worth it? More than I can explain.

I’ve always struggled a little with social media because we mostly see the highlight reel, the finished product, without seeing the work, setbacks, fear, discipline, or support behind it.

The older my boys get, the more grateful I am that investing in my health allows me to keep showing up for the things they love and to truly experience those moments alongside them. For some people, self-care looks indulgent.

For me, it looks like being strong enough, healthy enough, and capable enough to keep showing up for the people I love most.

This wasn’t about conquering a mountain.
It was about creating a life where I can keep saying “yes” to moments like this. 💛
