Destination weddings look dreamy, but there’s always a lot happening behind the scenes that doesn’t make the gram.

Mexico is starting to crack down on customs inspections and taxes for professional makeup kits. I always expected this to be more common in Europe, not Mexico.

I’m sharing what happened and what I learned with my fellow makeup artists so you can prepare ahead of time, pack smarter, and hopefully avoid the same surprise I did.

They said that because of the amount of makeup I had it was more than four personal use and that I was either working or selling.

They tax you on a percentage of the total cost…. Moments like this I wish I carried all drug store makeup & not prestige beauty 😮‍💨 (but only the best for my bogart beauties!)

After customs, all I wanted was a margarita while I waited for my driver.

They forgot to mention it was cash only, and I only had $20 on me. It was $26

At that point, I accepted it just wasn’t meant to be my morning.

Learned an expensive lesson today… 20 years in the industry and there are still lessons to learn… TRAVEL with me to one of my favorite destinations to work with my girl Dorka Jones ! C A B O ✈️🤎🌊🌴
