Summer Spotlight ☀️ | Designer-Braid Quick Weave

No leave-out needed. ✨

All of her natural hair is braided and tucked away, while the braids in the front give this curly quick weave a customized finish.

No daily blending. No fighting the summer humidity. Just braids, curls, and a fully put-away style.

📁Flashback Friday | EXIBIT I
“Can 4C hair survive a Dominican blowout?”

I’m not sure how much backlash I’m going to get for this, but I’ve seen it too many times not to speak on it.

If you have 4C hair, please be mindful of what is being used on your hair when you go in for a blowout.

I’ve had clients come to me after receiving what they believed was simply a Dominican blowout, only to realize later that their natural texture would no longer fully revert.

This client came back to me in March after going elsewhere because she couldn’t get into my book. What should have been a silk-press style turned into a corrective haircut because her natural texture did not revert and her hair was broke off.

And one of the biggest reasons I decided to speak on this is because I know this client’s hair. She does not touch her hair unless she’s getting it professionally done or coming to me. I know what her texture looked like before, I know the condition of her hair, and I know how she maintains it between appointments.

She asked for a Dominican blowout — not a chemical service.

4C hair does not need to be chemically altered to make it more manageable. It may require more time, patience and the proper technique, but changing someone’s texture should never be the shortcut.

Ask questions. Know what’s being used on your hair. And after a Dominican blowout, pay attention to whether your natural texture fully returns.

Thankfully, her story didn’t end in March. 🤎

March → May → August.

We cut what couldn’t be saved, stayed consistent, and let healthy hair take it from there.

Healthy hair will always come first. 🤍

Transformation Thursday ✨

When your niece asks for color, but her hairstylist auntie has the final say.😂

She came with a vision, and I had to make a little adjustment. Instead of coloring her natural hair, I put that color into her extensions and gave her the transformation with a 360 sew-in.

The result? A completely different look while her natural hair gets to sit this one out. 🙌🏾

Because I’m always going to give you the look — I’m just going to find the healthiest way to get you there.

Summer Spotlight ☀️ | Miracle Knots
Hair: Ywigs Human Braiding Hair · Crochet Hair · Boho Locs · Bundles ~ Spanish Curly

When it comes to the health of your natural hair, I prefer Miracle Knots braided in — not crocheted onto loose strands.

Braiding creates a more secure foundation and helps distribute the weight of the added hair along the braid instead of concentrating it at one attachment point.

It also makes a difference when it’s time for takedown. Because the extension is braided in, it can be removed more easily and with less manipulation of the natural hair — while helping preserve the Miracle Knot extensions so they can be reused for another install.

Lightweight. Flexible. Reusable. And plenty of movement.

💧Tip Tuesday

Overnight conditioning probably won’t ruin your hair the first time—but repeatedly doing it can become a problem.

Some hair damage is cumulative. It’s the result of repeatedly doing something that seems harmless until the effects start to show.

Your hair can only take so much unnecessary stress before it starts showing up in the strength and integrity of your strands.

So if sleeping in your deep conditioner is part of your routine… this is your sign to retire that habit.

When the braids are old but you’re not ready for takedown day just yet 😂

A few Bantu knots + strategically placed curls can camouflage that new growth and buy you a little extra time.

Emphasis on a little 😭 This is a one-more-week style, not a one-more-month style.

Healthy hair will always come first. ✨

💧 TIP TUESDAY

Want to get a little more out of your deep conditioning session without being stuck under a hooded dryer or steamer?

Try the warm-towel method. Adding gentle, controlled heat can enhance your deep conditioning session—and the best part? You can still move around, clean up, fold some clothes, or handle whatever you need to while you condition. 🙌🏾

The goal is to keep the towel comfortably warm, not hot. A properly warmed towel, covered with a plastic cap, will help retain that warmth longer. As the towel cools, you can always rewarm it in short intervals if needed.

⚠️ Safety tip: Always test the temperature of the towel before wrapping it around your head. Warm is enough—more heat does not mean better results.

Sometimes getting more out of your hair care routine is about working smarter, not harder.

☀️ Summer Spotlight

Mini twists, two ways. ✨

Go natural and let your own length do the talking, or add extensions for extra length, fullness, and a little color moment.

With summer heat and humidity, mini twists are a versatile, low-manipulation option that gives you a break from daily styling while still looking good through the unpredictable summer weather.

📁Flashback Friday | Exhibit H

Case: “Men don’t need a hair care routine.”

Evidence: March 2025 → July 2025

For a lot of men, hair care starts and stops with going to the braider. And while keeping the hair in low-manipulation styles can absolutely help with length retention, the style alone isn’t the routine.

Shampooing and conditioning at home is a start, but consistent professional care, proper cleansing and conditioning, moisture, and maintenance of the hair underneath those styles still matter.

And yes… we’ve been dibbling and dabbling in color along the way. 🎨 Still maintaining the length.

Because color doesn’t automatically mean sacrificing length—and braids don’t replace a hair care routine.

The braids are the style. The care is what helps us keep the length.

💛 Transformation Thursday

Months later… and this is exactly why I love a shadow root. 🤎

During her initial color service, I intentionally created depth at the root to avoid a harsh line of demarcation as her natural hair grew in.

Like all vibrant shades, fading is part of the journey—and hers faded into this beautiful golden blonde. ✨

The shadow root did exactly what it was designed to do: create a softer, more seamless grow-out.

Good color isn’t just about how it looks on day one. It’s about having a plan for how it will look months later.

Healthy hair will always come first. 💛
