The Miraculous Leopard Orchid

Following up on my last post, today our orchid blossomed. Against all odds, through two brutal Atlanta summers, through months of not being watered, it showed a sign a few weeks ago after 30 months of looking rather dilapidated and voila, it's blossomed and so beautifully too.

I'll try to keep this short, so bare with me.
Before my eclectic, funny, sexy and naughty aunt Brenda left our physical world for the celestial heights, she gave us this beautiful orchid in full bloom, I'm talking multiple flowers. This was Sept 2013, Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year, which would be her last, at least in a corporeal sense. Within 30 days, the blossoms began to fall off and as they did, Brenda weakened. When the last petal fell off, so too did did she, and it has been since October 2013 that this plant has truly endured the harshest of elements - but love and faith it got. I just knew I could not throw it away, even though my wife urged me at least 20 times to say is done, let it go. I just could not!

So after forgetting to give it water for about three months, when the spring of 2014 arrived, I placed it on top of my trash can outside, out of direct sunlight, but out there, ready to face the spiders, the bugs, the pollen, the rain and humidity. Just about anything, you name it, and it looked worse than ever before. I actually documented it by taking photographs to show just how badly it had deteriorated. A couple of big green leaves grew and died, and I continued to water it, probably once every two weeks. The stem completely rotted that I had to cut it off. It kind of resembled a piece of dried-up bamboo.

Summer came and went, in both 2014 and 2015 - still nothing. During the winters I kept it indoors, but that only led to more neglect. I could not part with it. Something inside me said persevere.

Interestingly, every Wednesday evening I would take it off the trash can and leave it in the garage, so that I could haul the rubbish to the top of my driveway for the garbage collectors. Then on Thursday afternoons, I would return the trash cans to their respective locations outside my garage, grab the orchid, still in its original pot, and place it back on top of the trash can.

Green leaves grew and died, and then those funny things that look like roots going into the ground from the base of the orchid, began to grow. I got so excited! I thought these were stems, so I angled them upwards and attached them to the orchid stick with a clamp, only to discover they never grew. Go figure, that is like taking a fish out of water, I had them growing the opposite way, instead of earthbound, heavenward. Strange but true, this is not a made up story. They weren't stems at all.

I just couldn't give up on it, no matter how sad it looked.

Then, in the middle of January 2016, I thought I was seeing things. A real stem started to grow, not upwards, but sideways, parallel to the ground. One inch, two inches, and the next thing, it's about 9 inches long. Just a few weeks ago I looked at it, hence my previous post, and a bulb of sorts was forming, and so the story goes. .....

But there's a little more to it. You see, Brenda loved her leopard print fashion, from her clothes to the staircase in her home, she had an affiliation to this incredible creature we call a leopard.

If you've made it this far, please do me a favor. Zoom in on the closeup pic and see what you see. Is it a leopard in a Tiger's dress? It's it my imagination that the shape you see strongly resembles a leopard? You'll see for yourself.

What I will say is that we should never give up. Just when we think enough is enough, that extra patience, that extra perseverance pays off. We can look at stories from all sorts of angles, and decipher what we must, but at the end of the day, the story you've just read is the absolute truth. It's about faith. It's about going the extra mile and believing that miracles are possible.

What's even more bazaar, not that I would expect anything less, is that two and a half years later, this orchid has sprung back to life, and magnificently so. We may never see another blossom, but this one blossoming orchid, this single bud, has once again sprung back to life.

Thank you G-d for showing us miracles each and every day, even when we doubt it heavenly possible.

I'm back! Have been thinking of writing and only procrastinated, so hopefully now I'll actually say a few words.
Today I had my full neuro tests, the works, even got a pic of my brain to show my kids. From walking to cognitive functioning, vision and balance, sensation and MRI tests, I had the works and I'm fortunate and grateful that today I got another zero. Amen! My doc looked me straight in the eye, we punched fists and he said, "I never give zeros". On a scale of 0 - 10, I can only be grateful to my creator that I have my health.

I still have my bad habits, I keep myself busy until late at night, just last night I sent a final email at 03:25am, and granted it was not work related but passion related that had me up so late, I only had a little over 3 hours of sleep. This is shocking! So too with other habits I've just not been able to break, but I'm trying. I'm healthy. MS is something I live with, and I think it also allows me to be me - pain free and just me.

Now having not written a post in over a year, which I'm embarrassed to admit, the time has come. I'm inspired. I'm also amazed. In fact, looking at the big picture, it's such a strong message that "all it takes is a little faith".

It's 18 months since I last took any pain medication, even ibuprofen, I am living pain free most all the time. Falling asleep on a sofa doesn't do anyone's neck any good, mine especially, so I have my occasional stiffness and it goes away. One cold in nearly 4 years - oh how grateful I am to have my health!

Now my inspiration to write today comes from the pic you see attached. This is an orchid that will God willing soon flower. It really should not be blooming, in fact it should have been tossed in the trash or left out in mother nature to go back to the earth, but it's alive. It has its faith. It has endured the harshest of elements and it is here.

To my aunty Brenda, I know you are out there and keeping an eye out on everyone. This incredible orchid you gave me is getting ready to say hello again. Thank you! Thank you for giving it to me. Thank you for leading me to Soul, albeit it via Soul of another nature all together wink ;) This amazing product I take has changed my life for the better, and had you not led me down this path"way", I would probably not be wiring this today.

I can't believe I last posted a month ago - it was still 2014. Since then, the year's been off to a faster start which I'm most grateful for.

we are rain

It''s been about 2 1/2 months of proactively taking Soul, and I'm feeling great. Yesterday I did an art delivery and installation and would ordinarily be somewhat tight and uncomfortable after 4+ hours of bending, lifting and making sure I calculate correctly, in addition to 2 and 1/2 hours of sitting in the vehicle, but that didn't happen. I'm just amazed at how it's working for me. More focus and endurance. This probably explains why more and more athletes are loving it and what is doing for them.

Inflammation - we all need a little of it, but what does unwanted or unnecessary inflammation cause? Almost everything! Daily For Decades - No More

Growing up in the 70’s and 80’s, I was privileged to attend good schools, be involved competitively in multiple sports, travel to and live in foreign countries, speak multiple languages, and live what most would think is a stress-less life. Yet somehow, halfway between then and now, I was involved in a sports injury that resulted in neck and nerve damage, along with a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis that would change my life forever. At first the news of my auto-immune disease diagnosis was naturally a very hard-blow and one I questioned and cried about, but one that has had an impact on half my life so far, for the better, and made me who I am today. Some reading this who know me may be thinking MS? Huh? Can’t be! - Pain? Huh? How does he disguise it? Why is he usually smiling and laughing and so active. I frankly just do folks – that’s me!

My MS is under control thank G-d, and I’m receiving incredible treatment from my Neurologist and his staff. My pain on the other hand is a completely separate matter. My injuries are a major reason I’ve suffered with chronic pain every day for over 20 years, even though I have tried surgery, had my nerves burned multiple times, experimented with a plethora of powerful medication prescriptions, some not so legal - depending on where you live, tried all sorts of treatments, and nothing unfortunately has helped.

It’s very difficult explaining to someone who doesn’t have chronic pain what it feels like, and how it can affect one’s life, one’s focus and ability to interact. If you’ve ever walked into a coffee table and banged your leg, then perhaps you can grasp an idea of the burning pain I am explaining – just think about having it every day, and for the most part, the majority of every day. It ain’t easy, but I’ve managed. For me, the remedy to help reduce my pain has been by involving myself in helping others, something I’m grateful to have learned from my parents, also by being involved in giving back, in charity work, – and just doing, without ulterior motives - along with a whole lot of talking (let’s not kid, there’s never a shortage of words for those who know me). I am able to channel my energy that has become an integral part of me, to divert the attention away from my chronic pain that I’ve suffered with daily for decades – praying that someday, somehow, something would come about that would help me feel pain free for more than 90 minutes of life, while I still enjoy doing those things that I most enjoy, together with making a living and supporting my family.

Folks, it found me as mentioned and the journey has begun. Instead of a narcotic, or chemical substance such as so many of those I’ve tried over the many years, this global product that is somewhat new to the USA, happens to be all natural and has incredible anti-inflammatory power. My research has led me to understand how so many of life’s ailments are related to inflammation and I have questioned my doctors and experts to confirm it.
