Let’s talk about it. 💬 This might ruffle a few feathers, but I truly believe you *don’t* have to follow the traditional assistant-to-stylist path to be successful in this industry.

When I graduated from cosmetology school, I was full of passion but also full of fear. I thought I *had* to be an assistant to gain experience. So, I joined a big-name salon, hoping it would be the stepping stone I needed. While I did learn some things that school didn’t teach me, most of my time was spent cleaning, doing laundry, and running errands. 🧺 Don’t get me wrong—these tasks are essential for a salon’s success—but I didn’t go to school to fold towels for a living.

Eventually, I realized that staying in that role wasn’t serving me or my goals. So, I made a leap that changed everything. I joined a salon that encouraged me to take on clients and build my skills in real time. 💇‍♀️

Here’s what happened:

✨ I started learning *hands-on* by working directly with my clients.

✨ I leaned on experienced stylists when I needed guidance.

✨ My confidence and technical skills improved faster than I ever thought possible.

✨ Most importantly, I started building my dream clientele.

The truth is, you grow the most when you’re doing the work—not when you’re watching from the sidelines. If you’re fresh out of school and unsure of the “right” path, trust yourself. You’re more ready than you think. Take the leap, and don’t be afraid to ask questions along the way. 🌟
