Seriously obsessed with how this project turned out today. When this friend of mine first asked me to do her hair she was doing bleach touch-ups on the root by herself at home. I’d say it’s taken a good year to transition her out of that. First we had to even out her hair and get rid of banding, then we slowly started adding dimension with lowlights, then softening with root shadows then today we finally got to take her back to her natural tones of red. I’m so happy with the result and so proud of myself for being patient and doing it the right way.

Embracing the warmth. Sometimes it tortures my soul when all these girls come in seeking the icy, ashy tones when they have so much beautiful tone that is natural to them. Embraced the warmth this time and I’m obsessed. This girl also got a nice healthy chop. Love it.

Learning to appreciate the blend when it’s styled straight. Usually I throw in some beach waves to show off the dimension but loved how this mama’s hair turned out and how blended it looked after a smooth blowout.

Just a few panels of dark and a toner brought this balayage back to life.

It’s true that balayage is low maintenance but in order to maintain the lived in look and refresh your style it’s important to add some dimension and get toners every few weeks.

Regular upkeep means less of an overhaul when it comes to touching up the brightness every few months.
