The Builder’s Shift

Good evening and happy Friday.

Day 73.

One of those uneventful days, but the load still had to move.

I got loaded late last night and stayed at PCA DeRidder. Started rolling around 5:30 this morning, fueled at Love’s in North Little Rock, and completed the shift at Love’s in Marion, Illinois.

Not every day on the road brings a big story. Some days are simply about staying consistent, doing the work, and arriving safely.

Checking in before shutting down for the day. Always grateful.

Day 71 started with rest after a late finish.

Yesterday included nearly five hours of combined waiting between unloading in Dallas and loading at Coca Cola. I still completed the shift safely and found truck friendly parking near today’s receiver.

Now I am finishing the remaining two hours and 15 minutes of my sleeper split before getting back to work.

Some days progress looks like miles. Other days it looks like patience, discipline, and knowing when to rest.

Day 69 update.

Stopped at Speedco in Cameron, Missouri, to get a signal light replaced. The estimated wait is more than three hours.

Another unexpected delay, but the repair needs to be handled before getting back on the road. Staying patient, staying safe, and always grateful.

Five more fundraising outreach contacts completed today.

We are building this program through consistent, respectful communication with organizations that may benefit from an additional fundraising option.

No hype. No pressure. Just steady outreach, responsible follow-up, and a willingness to learn from every response.

Late Day 66.

I wasn’t able to check in earlier, but the work still got done.

Started the day by delivering at WCT Farm and Lawn in Strafford. From there, I returned to WestRock Springfield, dropped the empty trailer, and hooked up to a loaded trailer headed toward Tomahawk.

The trailer came with a couple of bad tires, so tonight’s stopping point is Love’s in Normal, Illinois. Hopefully they can get the tires replaced. Either way, this is where I’m shutting down for the night.

Another reminder that progress does not always go according to plan. Handle what is in front of you, protect the equipment, and keep moving safely.

Day 65 morning update.

I left my safe haven at Petro Beaumont, fueled up at Love’s Beaumont, then continued to Sherman Tank in Pearland.

Checked in, backed in from the street, opened the trailer, and now I’m waiting to be loaded right here in the parking lot. No loading dock for this one.

Every customer has a different setup. Part of trucking is staying alert, adapting, and getting the job done safely.

Day 64 evening update.

Checked in at FCC Dallas, got loaded, scaled, and departed for Louisiana.

Arrived at PCA DeRidder around 3:30 this afternoon, scaled in, then staged for about four hours before getting unloaded around 8:30 tonight.

The next load is already lined up. I completed the shift at a Petro in Beaumont, Texas, en route to tomorrow’s pickup.

A long day with plenty of waiting, but the work kept moving forward.
