Help choose! Which do you like or do you find successful?
As designers, sometimes after a great initial conversation, you think you know where you're heading with the design, but end up spinning your wheels creating more and more variations.
Honest conversations are a big part of your work. If you have a new client, always over communicate.

My goal this year was to take my skills and passion for drawing/painting and use them in my work. I've been a designer for a long time, but usually have had to work so fast-paced, I utilized stock images and illustrations. Not anymore! I've created a series of portfolio building pieces that I will be sharing in the next few weeks, like this one:
From concept sketch to emoji. This concept project is for Google's newest artificial intelligence assistant, Jada. Portrait and profile imagery requirements plus Google's illustration style and color palette.
So here's Jada! Well, my version for Google's new AI assistant. (I want her hair.) 😁
This is a concept project and is not directly affiliated with Google.

Amazon Fresh is a grocery delivery service included in Prime accounts. With food delivery on the rise, Amazon wanted to totally revamp all packaging of this service. The design specs: simple, charming, and representative of the fresh food inside. Use simple illustrations.
Here is the final product - what do you think? A simple, natural, and charming pattern that can be used in a variety of packaging styles.

This makes me want to make dinner reservations! There is something about lighted signs and neon that excite me as a consumer but also as a restaurant marketer. If you think about it, the sign is the mark that lets people know, we are here and we are OPEN!
I cannot wait for things to open up. As I write this, we are still in lock-down here in the UK. But this mockup of what's to come is a sure sign of hope that normalcy is on the horizon.

The koi is remarkable for a variety of reasons. They're lucky, beautiful, and they make great tattoos and logotypes.
🐠
When researching this logo, I came across a BUTTERFLY Koi. That was it for me. 🦋 I had to use this little guy as the mark for this new restaurant concept. The butterfly features give Koi an almost flowy angelic look. Google it now and see for yourself!
My next idea was to form the Koi in the shape of a "K' for Kumamoto, the name for the new restaurant.
What do you think?
Specs: I drew this out in Procreate and finished it off in Illustrator.

I started learning about oysters in the strangest place, you might think, land-locked Colorado! But I work with a very entrepreneurial and successful restauranteur who opened a thriving oyster bar in the heart of Cherry Creek.
This restauranteur is always coming up with great ideas (I'm blessed to learn from him and work with him quite honestly!) So when he said he wanted to open another oyster shop and call it "Kumamoto," I was excited.
🦪
Kumamoto is in Kyushu, Japan, and it's also where little "kumie" oysters originate from, in Yatsushiro Bay. If you ever come across them, get 'em.
🦪
Kumamoto Oysters are deep-cupped with petite meats, have a mild brininess, sweet flavor and, a honeydew finish. They are a favorite for both new oyster eaters and connoisseurs.
