Reading Born a Crime by Trevor Noah and Long Walk to Freedom by Nelson Mandela is helping me understand South Africa’s history and recognize that racism and injustice are not limited to one nation. Different places may have different histories, but too often they share the same struggle for dignity, equality, and freedom.

As a Black woman, I know racism has affected our families, opportunities, communities, and self-image—but it has never changed who God created us to be.

We are beautiful, intelligent, resilient, gifted, and worthy. We carry the strength, prayers, and perseverance of generations who refused to give up.

Through my relationship with Jesus Christ, I know darkness cannot overcome light. Racism may be part of my experience, but it will never define my identity, purpose, or future.

We must read, study, and teach our children the truth—not to create bitterness, but to build wisdom. Knowing history helps us recognize injustice, protect our dignity, and avoid repeating the past.

Never let anyone convince you that learning is dangerous. What is dangerous is refusing to learn.

Know your history. Strengthen your faith. Celebrate your beauty. Walk boldly in your God-given identity, and never apologize for who God created you to be.

We are still here, still rising, and by God’s grace, still becoming everything our ancestors prayed we would be. ✨🙏🏾🖤

These are uncertain times, but fear cannot be our only response. We must pay attention, educate ourselves, understand our history, and teach our children and grandchildren to think, learn, and use their voices wisely.

Faith does not mean ignoring what is happening around us. Faith gives us the courage to face it with wisdom, prayer, and purpose.

Presidents will come and go. Political seasons will change. But God remains—and no earthly position carries more power than He does.

So protect your peace, but do not become silent or uninformed. Stay prayerful. Stay watchful. Keep learning, keep teaching, and keep preparing the next generation.
