@ddlovato, I want to thank you for being the person you have always been. Since day 1. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️💕 Your songs always got me through hard times. When I was young already hiding from my family, I watched you on my little square tv and sang my heart out in my room. When school or home was tough, your music gave me a place to cry it all out. The heartbreak songs to the fun ones reminding us to be confident. When the church told me to hide my bi part of me, you told us to love ourselves and not be afraid. When I was alone, your song said I can love myself. Go solo when you need. Release shame. Be you. When I finally turned 29 and it hit me that pursuing a minor romantically or even younger than me in any way does in fact not cross my mind. When I found a man who loves and respects me, who I’m safe to process my truama with, the only fear left is what if he passes before me? You wrote a song I can pour those fears into instead of holding it. When I made the heartbreaking decision to cut contact with my mom and her side of the family for the final time came last week. When I knew there was nothing else I could do to fix or change the brokenness in my family. Your concert in Austin happened to be at the end of the week. I knew I had a safe place to go, start again, cry it out, then dance into the confidence and peace that I will be okay and things will work out. You are love, I am love, and love comes to us because we give it. Thank you for being a great example without meaning to be one. Even through the hard times. You kept going.
