Some sad news from owner Katie…

We will not be renewing the lease for Modern Muse Beauty Collective, which ends in May 2025. MMBC as we know it will no longer be in operation after May, BUT all remaining team members including will continue to see clients in their new spots come May.

We will still be seeing clients in the current space for the next 4-6weeks until our official vacate day.
All currently scheduled clients can be confident that your appointment will remain exactly as planned, but will be in a new location at some point in May, and your stylist will personally check in on you beforehand to make sure you know where to go.

As for me - I do not yet know where my new space will be, but likely within just a few minutes of the current location. I will keep everyone informed through all social channels as well as through email, so please keep an eye out on the coming weeks for what my next steps will be. For the next 4-6 weeks, nothing changes and you can continue to book with me and as usual through the link in the bio.

As you can imagine, this was a very difficult decision fueled by a number of factors, but mainly it is because it’s time for me to put my energy back into myself, my family, and to fuel my desires for new and different opportunities in the beauty industry and beyond.

Modern Muse Beauty Collective was a dream come true, and we did exactly what we sought out to do with this business. It was successful for 5 of the hardest years in history, and I am incredibly proud of what we accomplished and all the people who helped achieve that success. I will always look back on it with fondness as the proof that I set out to do something big, and I did it. But now it’s time for me to leave the title “Salon Owner” behind to create space in my life for new pursuits and interests.

Thank you from the bottom of heart for loving Modern Muse as much as I do. Thanks for supporting all of us and continuing to support us in this journey. The outpouring of love and encouragement I’ve received from those who knew this was coming has been so comforting! I appreciate you all more than you know. ❤️

Hi, I'm Katie. I founded MMBC as its current iteration in 2020, when we launched our beautiful custom built location. (Peep those before pics!🤯) But in truth, this company has been in existence since 2006!

What started as my dream of opening a beauty business where all felt welcomed and supported, slowly grew over the years into a salon company with incredible team members, strong values, beautiful team culture, and a heartfelt connection to serving our community in a way I felt no one else was doing nor had done before.

Any leader who has ever grown and nurtured a team will know that the path to team success isn't linear - it's often wrought with missteps, challenges, and too often, heartbreak. As hard as it is to get the right folks "on the bus," it's even more difficult to meet each of them where they're at and give them everything they need every day. I don't always get it right.

What I have always known, though, is that the right team -the right PEOPLE - make it all work. And I STILL believe we're showing up every day serving our community in unique ways that truly bring people joy and connection.

That's why I'm proud to announce we've grown by 5 more beautiful humans who've recently joined our company! Let me introduce you to , , , ! Marilyn, aka has joined our Spa Team along with .esti_malz and we couldn't be more excited to grow this next phase of our Spa department!

Marilyn hails from California (you know we love us some Cali girls!) and has trained at the Aveda Institute in all things aesthetics. She's ready to give your face some love, and you can find her on the schedule Tues-Thurs and SATURDAYS which is very exciting!

She's a newlywed, an identical twin, and she's just super sweet and caring. We ALL loved her instantly, and you will too!

Our team recently hosted an advanced color class on all things red, with ! If you ever wanted to try out a firey tone, let's talk about what it takes to get and to maintain this particular color spectrum in your hair...⁠

#1: There are SO many shades of red! Copper, Crayola red, burgundy...the color variety is endless. Make sure to bring LOTS of inspiration pics to your appointment so your stylist can narrow down the exact shade you're looking for.⁠

#2 Reds are fast to grab in your hair, fast to fade, but when you're ready to be done with red, it's the hardest to reverse! Make sure you're ready to go through a lengthy, warm/golden phase when you want to go lighter or reverse your red.⁠

#3 UV and heat protectants are your BFFs when you're a redhead! Because of the fade factor, you'll want to keep all damaging heat and rays at a minimum to maintain the brightness of your red.⁠

#4 Reds are higher maintenance. Depending on where you started, you may want to plan for maintenance every 4-6 weeks. ⁠
