What happens when a tummy tuck is done on someone who is already putting in the work?

Dr. Franco walks through an on the table before and after, and you can watch the shape arrive in real time. This patient came in fit and strong, so the plan was refinement, not reinvention. A little liposculpting to define the midline and flanks, then bringing everything together and tightening the abdominal wall to create that long, smooth line.

The best moment comes at the end. As she breathes, her own muscle definition shows through, because that structure was always hers. The procedure just uncovered it.

Can we talk about how gorgeous our patients are?

Because that was the whole afternoon. A camera, some very good light, and a lineup of people who know exactly how to stand in front of one.

No before and afters, no clinical lighting, no clipboard. Just you, looking like yourself on a very good day.

We do plastic surgery every day, and the best part of it is not the part that happens in the operating room. It is this. People coming back months and years later, still part of the practice, still willing to spend an afternoon with us.

To everyone who came out, thank you for trusting us with your time long after the last appointment was over. Some of you we have known for years now. It shows in these photos and we love that.

For women interested in testosterone replacement therapy, are pellets or injections better?

Dr. Reis is answering one of our most common hormone therapy questions, and there is no universal winner here. Both are great options, just built for different people.

💊 Pellets. Small compressed testosterone pellets placed under the skin in a simple in office procedure. Your body breaks them down over about three months, so you get steady levels with no needles at home. The tradeoff is that the dose cannot be adjusted once it is in, so we aim slightly conservative and add a boost if needed.

💉 Injections. Same pure testosterone, different delivery. Dosing weekly or every other week means much more control, so we can follow labs and fine tune as we go. The downside is real: it means regular injections at home.

🔬 Either way, stay in close contact with your prescribing physician. Regular labs, checking that you actually feel better, and keeping levels in that Goldilocks middle. Not too low, not too high.

The takeaway: this is a fit question, not a better or worse question. The right answer depends on your labs, your lifestyle, and how hands on you want to be.

What happens when you choose shape over size?

A recent patient sent in a selfie after her breast augmentation with a lift, and it says everything. She is 36, she has had several kids, and she wanted her pre baby shape back with a little something extra.

The plan: 360cc high profile Motiva round implants above the muscle, paired with a breast lift through a modified anchor incision. Round over ergonomic for upper pole fullness, with the projection and lateral contour she cared about most.

360cc is a modest implant, and that is the point. Full results do not require going big. Lifting and adding fullness up top also shifts the proportions of the whole torso, so the waist reads slimmer right along with it.

She had a smooth recovery, and the best part is not how she looks. It is how she feels.

What does a breast augmentation actually look like from the table?

Dr. Reis takes you through this one start to finish. The plan accounted for a slight natural asymmetry, so it was a 425 cc implant on one side and a 400 cc on the other to bring both into balance.

The incision sits in the inframammary fold, with the marking carried slightly up onto the breast. As the implant settles and the tissue expands, that fold shifts down, which puts the final scar right where a bra band or swimsuit line lands. Nothing visible from the front.

Placement here is subfascial: under the breast tissue and under the fascia, but on top of the muscle. It is the middle ground, giving you the stability of going under the muscle with the benefits of staying above it. Comfort is part of the tradeoff too, and most patients are easing back into a normal routine within a few days.

In the after, the focus is central cleavage that is open but not too wide, roughly a finger's width. Add smooth lateral contour, upper pole fullness, and a shape that balances with her frame. Everything continues to soften and settle in the weeks ahead.

How long after GLP-1 weight loss do you need to wait before having an aesthetic plastic surgery procedure?

Dr. Reis is answering a question we get all the time, and there are several parts to it.

⚖️ Land at a weight you are happy with. This is the most important piece. You want to be at a weight you actually like and one you feel confident you can hold onto for the long term, not just get to.

📆 Give it time to stabilize. That weight should be steady for several months at minimum. Three months is the floor, and closer to six is ideal, because we want to know you can maintain it after surgery, not only before.

🥩 Nutrition, nutrition, nutrition. The same rules that minimize muscle loss during weight loss apply here. Plenty of protein, enough overall calories, and the vitamins and minerals your body needs. Collagen supplementation can help too.

🩹 Go into surgery fully replete. Recovery needs building blocks, and there can be significant issues afterward if those building blocks are not there. Eat well before your procedure and especially after, so you are fueling your recovery instead of fighting it.

What does confidence actually look like in a photo?

It is never the posing. It shows up in the smaller stuff. Someone stops checking the mirror between shots. Someone picks their favorite picture first instead of scanning it for what to fix. By the end of our patient appreciation shoot, people were leaning into frame and asking us for every single file.

That is the part we love. Nobody was performing confidence for the camera. They just had it, and the camera was lucky enough to be on.

Loving how you look is not vanity. It is what happens when the outside finally agrees with the person who has been in there this whole time.

To everyone who came out, thank you for letting us see it. If you want that feeling for yourself, book with Austin Plastic Surgeon.

What can you actually see on the table?

This patient came to us with clear goals for her rhinoplasty: reduce the dorsal hump and add tip definition without landing anywhere near pointy. That second part was her specific request.

Here is the comparison. The hump is reduced. The dorsal aesthetic lines are straighter. The tip sits in a good position with the right rotation.

One detail Dr. Weinfeld points out is the supratip break. She did not want a significant one, so the plan is a small one. It gets set slightly exaggerated at the time of surgery, because if it starts subtle it tends to disappear entirely as things settle over the following months. Planning for the long term result is the whole point.

What's the difference between a deep plane facelift and a deep plane neck lift? ✨

✨ The facelift covers the face, from just beside the eye down to the jaw
✨ The neck lift picks up where the jaw ends and continues down through the neck

But here's the part Dr. Weinfeld really wants you to know: both are deep plane procedures, working beneath the SMAS in the face and the platysma in the neck. Those two structures are contiguous. One continuous layer, not two separate ones.

Which is why they're so often paired:
✨ The aging that shows up in the face is almost always showing up in the neck too
✨ The reverse is just as true
✨ Treat one and leave the other, and the results can tell two different stories

If you're considering a facelift and wondering whether your neck belongs in the conversation, schedule a consultation with Austin Plastic Surgeon.

Can you get a tummy tuck without moving your belly button?

Dr. Franco is breaking down the mini tummy tuck.

A mini is for isolated loose skin right below the belly button. Because we are not bringing the belly button down, we do not remove it or cut around it, which means it stays in the same spot and keeps looking like yours.

Now for the myth we hear the most: that you cannot tie the muscles with a mini. You can. Repairing them all the way together takes some special technique, but it is absolutely on the table.

We can also combine it with liposculpting to accentuate the shape, and the incision stays tiny and extremely low.

There is a whole spectrum of tummy tucks, and one of them is built for you. Book a consultation with Austin Plastic Surgeon to find out which.
