Have you ever wondered why deep tissue sometimes feels like emotional archaeology rather than just muscle work?

Deep tissue massage is not about forcing your body to change. It is about listening, layer by layer, to where your muscles have learned to protect you and hold tension over time.

At Ace of Cups our advanced therapists move slowly and intentionally, letting the fascia soften instead of pushing through it. We still get to those pesky knots and stubborn spots, but we do it in a way your body can actually receive.

Many clients notice memories, emotions, or long forgotten injuries surfacing during these sessions. That is not a side effect. It is your body finally feeling safe enough to speak. If you are tired of quick fixes and ready for real, lasting change, deep tissue at Ace of Cups is an invitation to begin a deeper relationship with your body.

What’s Up at Ace this week?

Meet Alex, one of our talented massage therapists. With a holistic approach to wellness, Alex blends therapeutic massage with an intuitive, flowing touch to help clients reconnect with their bodies. Specializing in Swedish, deep Swedish, and deep tissue massage, he tailors each session to your individual needs, creating a space where you can feel heard, supported, and cared for.

Our featured herb this week is skullcap (Scutellaria lateriflora), a gentle nervine traditionally used in Western herbalism to support relaxation and ease nervous tension. With her delicate blue-violet flowers, skullcap reminds us to quiet the mental chatter, soften our worries, and make room for a little stillness.

And for some family-friendly fall fun, check out Bethany Pumpkin Patch! This Sunday, October 18, enjoy a community bake sale, pumpkin painting, and family movie night. It’s a sweet way to celebrate the season, spend time with loved ones, and connect with the Austin community.

See you at Ace, Fellow Seekers.

Ever feel that stubborn tension where your neck meets your shoulder blade? Meet the levator scapulae.

This muscle runs along the back and side of your neck to your shoulder blade, helping elevate the scapula and assist with neck movement. When the area is feeling tight or overworked, you may notice stiffness when turning your head or discomfort along the upper shoulder.

Long hours at a desk, looking down at your phone, and holding tension throughout the day can all leave your neck and shoulders asking for a little extra care.

Massage can help ease muscular tension and support more comfortable movement. Our therapists at Ace of Cups take a whole-body approach to addressing the areas that need attention.

Ready to give your neck and shoulders some love? Book your next massage with us by visiting the Linktree in our bio.

Elderflower (Sambucus nigra) is the delicate, fragrant flower of the elder tree, long cherished in traditional herbalism for its gentle and versatile nature.

Traditionally, elderflower has been enjoyed as a tea or infusion to support healthy respiratory function, especially during seasonal changes. Its light, floral character also makes it a lovely herb to reach for when you’re feeling overheated or under the weather.

Elderflower has traditionally been used to encourage healthy perspiration and support the body’s natural response to occasional congestion and seasonal discomfort.

With its soft floral aroma and subtle sweetness, elderflower makes a beautiful addition to an herbal tea blend, especially when paired with other seasonal herbs.

Herbal note: Traditionally prepared as an infusion, elderflower pairs beautifully with herbs like peppermint, chamomile, lemon balm, or rose.

Disclaimer: Herbal traditions are not a substitute for medical care. Consult a qualified healthcare professional before using herbs therapeutically, especially if pregnant, nursing, taking medications, or managing a health condition.
