What If Letting Go Is Part of Healing?

Photos from Nutrition with Judy's post 09/27/2026

How much of your life are you postponing until you feel better?

Chronic illness often creates a list of conditions:

“I will go outside when I feel better.”

“I will spend time with loved ones when I have more energy.”

"I will make plans for the future, try something new, and enjoy things I love when I feel better."

Without realizing it, complete healing becomes a requirement for participating in life.

Living while healing does not mean ignoring your symptoms, pushing beyond your limits, or abandoning treatment. It means working within the capacity you have today.

Continue treating what matters:

• Follow your care plan
• Prioritize sleep
• Eat nutrient-dense, meat-based foods
• Regulate your nervous system
• Keep your routines simple

Then take one manageable step back into life.

Walk half the distance. Work or study part-time. Spend time with someone you love. Return to something that gives you purpose.

Use capacity—not perfection—as your standard.

As your capacity grows, your world can grow with it. Every small step expands the life chronic illness tried to shrink.

Healing and living can happen together. Do not wait for perfect health to begin your life.

Are You Healing or Making Your World Smaller?

Photos from Nutrition with Judy's post 09/25/2026

Don't postpone living until you feel better. What are you waiting to do until you feel better?

For many people living with chronic illness, healing gradually becomes the center of daily life.

The day revolves around symptoms, appointments, supplements, food, sleep, and treatment schedules. Activities that could bring connection, meaning, or enjoyment are postponed until health improves.

But waiting for complete symptom resolution can cause life to become increasingly limited.

Living while healing does not mean ignoring your symptoms, abandoning treatment, or pushing beyond your physical limits. It means making thoughtful choices within the capacity you have today.

Continue treating what needs attention. Stay consistent with the foundations that support your health:

• Restful sleep
• Nutrient-dense food
• Nervous system regulation
• Simple, sustainable routines

Then take one manageable step back into your life.

Walk half the distance you once walked. Work or study part-time if that is what your body currently permits. Spend 15 minutes outside, read, pray, meditate, or connect with someone you love.

Capacity is a more useful standard than perfection. As your capacity grows, your world can grow with it.

Healing and living do not have to happen separately. You do not need perfect health before you begin participating in your life again.

What If You Never Fully Heal? Will You Still Live?

09/23/2026

Why can MCAS seem to appear suddenly?

Symptoms can begin after one meal, exposure, illness, or stressful event. Because the reaction appears immediately afterward, that final event often receives all the blame.

But the visible symptoms represent only the top of the iceberg.

Below the surface, pressure was building through:

• Years of chronic stress and survival mode
• Poor sleep
• Old infections
• Mold exposure
• Gut dysfunction
• Grief
• Trauma
• Burnout

These burdens reduce the body’s capacity to tolerate another stressor.

Eventually, one more trigger pushes the system beyond its limit. Symptoms appear, and the condition feels sudden even though the underlying burden developed over time.

This is why focusing only on the most recent trigger provides an incomplete picture.

Removing that trigger matters, but healing also requires identifying what was happening beneath the surface.

What kept the body in survival mode?

Which physical burdens remain active?

What prevents the nervous system and mast cells from settling?

MCAS does not appear for no reason. Understanding what built beneath the surface changes how root-cause healing is approached.

What if trying to control every part of healing is keeping the body stressed?

One client had already made significant progress, but persistent skin inflammation remained.

They continued searching for the missing answer:

• More creams
• More testing
• A biopsy
• A stricter Carnivore diet
• A stricter gut protocol

The skin issues continued.

Eventually, the pressure of trying to control every variable became exhausting. For four days, the client stepped away from such a rigid routine.

Their skin improved.

The change did not mean the physical symptoms were imaginary. The inflammation was real. It revealed that the pressure to follow every part of the protocol perfectly was intensifying the stress response.

This distinction matters.

Nutrition, environmental support, and root-cause care remain essential. But healing also requires helping the body leave survival mode.

A highly restrictive routine becomes another stressor when every meal, supplement, symptom, and decision creates fear. The body continues receiving the message that it is under threat, even while the person is doing everything possible to heal.

A protocol should support the body’s capacity to recover. It should not keep the person trapped in constant monitoring, fear, and pressure.

Physical support and nervous-system regulation are not competing approaches. They address different parts of the same healing process.

A perfect protocol cannot create full healing while the body still feels at war.

The Truth About Real Wellness

Photos from Nutrition with Judy's post 09/21/2026

Your cortisol test looks normal. Why does your body still feel stressed?

A normal cortisol result does not capture the entire stress response.

The stress response begins farther upstream. The usual pathway follows this sequence:

• The brain detects a threat
• The hypothalamus releases corticotropin-releasing hormone, or CRH
• The pituitary releases adrenocorticotropic hormone, or ACTH
• The adrenal glands release cortisol

Cortisol is one part of this larger communication system. Testing cortisol measures the later stage of the pathway, not every signal that occurred before it.

CRH also communicates directly with mast cells.

Mast-cell activation therefore begins before or alongside the broader cortisol response. Local signaling still triggers physical symptoms even when a cortisol test falls within the normal range.

This explains why someone can receive normal cortisol results while continuing to experience a strong physical stress response.

Testing remains valuable, but it provides only one piece of the picture.

Symptoms, triggers, and repeated patterns provide essential context:

• What happens before a reaction?
• Which situations repeatedly trigger symptoms?
• Do symptoms occur even when cortisol results look normal?
• Is the body responding to signals that the test does not directly measure?

A laboratory result should not be interpreted without the broader pattern.

The stress response involves more than cortisol. Understanding the upstream signals provides a more complete view of what the body is experiencing.
