🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀

At Vintage Vixen Artistry, our work goes beyond permanent makeup and custom tattoos. We are also honored to offer ar**la enhancement and restoration tattooing for breast cancer warriors following mastectomy and reconstruction.

For some, that final bit of artistry can represent so much more than pigment on skin. It can be a step toward feeling whole again, reclaiming something cancer took away, and seeing a familiar reflection looking back in the mirror. 🩷

And this October, we want to do more than simply raise awareness.

We've been quietly working on something behind the scenes—something very close to our hearts that will allow Vintage Vixen Artistry to give back to breast cancer warriors right here in our local community.

One of the questions we hear about permanent eyeliner is: “Am I going to be able to go about my day afterward?”

For most clients, permanent eyeliner doesn’t mean putting your entire day on hold. You can typically leave your appointment and continue with normal activities (that do not include fun in the sun/water ), including driving, as long as your vision feels normal and you haven't taken anything that would impair you.

But just because you can carry on with your day doesn’t mean we recommend scheduling your appointment right before something important. 😉

Fresh permanent makeup is just that—fresh! Some temporary redness, tenderness, or puffiness around the eyes can be completely normal during the initial healing process.

So if you have a wedding, family photos, vacation, big event, or anything else where you want to look picture-perfect, give yourself plenty of healing time beforehand.📸

Your healed results are the goal—not how things look immediately after your appointment.

❓ TATTOO FAQ: Can we add skin-tone shading to a pre-existing tattoo to give it a softer, more neutral palette?

Sometimes, yes! 🤎

If an existing tattoo has minimal to no shading, we may be able to introduce soft, skin-toned pigments to add dimension while keeping the overall look subtle and neutral.

But here's the catch... 👀

If the tattoo already has shading, adding neutral tones over or around it can muddy the overall effect rather than soften it. Tattoo pigment is translucent, so we have to work with what's already in the skin—not simply cover it up like paint on a canvas.
