There are so many terms floating around for hair techniques. Balayage, foilayage, money piece, root tap, color melt...

It’s hard to ask for the service you want if you’re unsure what these terms even mean!
For example, do you know what a balayage is and why it’s called a balayage?

The word balayage actually comes from the French word “balayer” which means “to sweep”. Which if you’ve ever had a balayage done makes total sense! When we balayage we are sweeping our color brush over the hair to create a gradual, seamless blend! Because of the sweeping motion, it creates a beautiful, natural looking effect.

Is your hair shedding like crazy?! If so, you’re not alone!

A lot of people tend to experience more hair shed than normal during late summer and/or early autumn!
Why does this happen? Everyone’s hair goes through a natural cycle where hair growth and rest periods alternate. The phase of resting is the telogen phase. During this phase, the hair follicle is completely at rest and hair tends to fall out or shed more easily.
During the summer months, we tend to hold onto more hair to protect our scalp from UV light. Because our hair goes through a cycle, after a season of holding more hair is a season of shedding. That’s why we tend to shed more once the days start getting shorter and the days aren’t as sunny!

If no one would judge you for it...what’s your dream hair?

I wanted to ask this question because I have heard this statement so many times in my chair.

“I would love to do that but I could never pull it off.”

And in my experience, this belief usually comes from a judgment they once received from others. But if you could banish all the judgment and comments from others and get the hair of your dreams, what would you walk out of the salon with? How would that make you feel?

Can you keep a secret?

I have to get this off my chest. It's frowned upon, especially in my industry. But I can't help it! And I'm ready to come clean...

Even though I'm a hairstylist, I still cut my own hair, like to smell drugstore shampoo while in Target sometimes skip the heat protectant😬!

Why am I telling you this secret?
Because I want you to know that no one is perfect and you should never be embarrassed to tell your hairstylist the truth about your hair!

What's your hair secret? I won't judge...I promise!

Do you struggle waking up in the morning? Would you give anything to be able to have another 15 minutes of sleep before getting up for the day?
I feel you.

That's why I make sure to take all the precautions I can to keep my hair looking good for several days.

And here’s how I extend the life of my style:

1. Dry shampoo at night to absorb oils while sleeping
2. Loosely braid your hair or "pineapple" on top of your head. 3. Sleep on a satin or silk pillowcase to reduce frizz

Could you use a few hours of peace and quiet?

Right now the world feels like a heavy place. Everywhere you turn, someone has something to say or an opinion to share. It's exhausting.

I want you to know that you're welcome to use my chair as a place to decompress and escape what's bothering you.

If you could use a little quiet and would like to spend your appointment just relaxing and listening to music - just say "I could use a silent appointment."

I won't be offended, because sometimes I could use a little peace and quiet too.
