Cuts for Peanuts
Thirty years of doing what I love!
Hello Peanuts, August is here! As the new school year approaches, the demand for services is expected to surge. My schedule is currently full, but you can join the online waitlist. To avoid last-minute scheduling conflicts, I suggest securing school picture and holiday haircut appointments without delay. I hope everyone enjoys the rest of summer!

Happy Summer!
Today was just WOW! So many success stories! Sweet Elliot rocked it today. I've been working on gaining his trust. Elliot doesn't like me using a comb or shears. I have to be creative with my hands and buzzers. Elliot is mostly non speaking, on spectrum. I have been asking him to "help" me cut his hair and this has been a game changer for us. In the videos you will see he is holding my hand and I'm instructing him how to move. He did great today! We finished with the trimmers around the edges! That's a bfd! So proud of him! What some people don't understand is non speaking doesn't mean they aren't listening. If given the chance many will overcome what is challenging for them. They just need a chance to process and grow! I will share all 3 videos in the comment section along with a pic of him getting a reward. Elliot you rock and I'm happy just to dance with you!

So happy to see Samantha today! I gave her a shorter haircut to go with her braces that she's getting next week! Happy Summer !
A heartwarming full circle moment today. A new client, a charming two-year-old, came in for his first haircut with his parents. When I asked how they found me, his dad, Charlie, shared a wonderful story. He reminded me that I had cut his hair when he was younger, and how comfortable he was with me. He asked if I remembered him. I said," yes because I had cut his hair until he was in high school. "Charlie was the first person I had met with a Tourette's diagnosis. I recalled adjusting my approach to accommodate his needs, and we would chat and laugh together. Charlie said that he never felt awkward or uncomfortable with me, he was just Charlie. He said,"you always adjust the appointment to me. You never talked differently. You always talked to me, asked me questions. You always made me feel like Tourette's was normal. Charlie's wife, Ashley, added that they drove two hours for their son's first haircut, no questions asked. It was a beautiful full circle moment,he trusted me with his son. I am still a little misty eyed over this. Charlie came back to see me, brought his son for his first haircut. I think I started cutting his hair when I was 27! Dancing in the tiny shop! "Every picture tells a story, don't it."
I was going to do a reel, decided each picture deserved a moment.
Jack is non speaking and truly dislikes haircuts. His family drives a distance to come see me. It's taken about a year for Jack to adjust and today he had both his aunt and I in tears! Jack moved about the tiny salon, a little cut here near the window and a little cut sitting on the ottoman. Then he became curious and sat on the frog! I did a little trim there and off he went to the fire truck. He began to trust the process and I would ask permission to move forward. Jack showed pride! He was proud of himself for being brave! I wish I could share what this felt like for us in the room! He trusted the process, on his terms. Big moments in the tiny salon. This is why I do it! Go Jack!
