I'm just a regular woman on my path to a healthier lifestyle. Stop by for daily tidbits and a community of like-minded friends! But then life happened.

I have been obese my entire adult life. I would love for you to follow my journey! In August 2011, I decided enough was enough and started to change by working out regularly. It has been an up and down battle. Within a year or so, I was down almost 80lbs. I am a firm believer in being mentally prepared to make it a lifestyle and if that changes, you will slip right back into old ways. Apparently I

I occasionally get notifications from this page receiving views but I haven’t posted since March 2020. My journey has been ongoing as I started on my bariatric surgery journey in June 2021, received surgery approval September 2021 after losing 20lbs. I was scheduled for surgery February 3rd 2022 but Covid restrictions cancelled all elective surgeries. I was rescheduled for April 8th 2022. I was only down 15lbs by then but was still allowed to have surgery. I just passed my 1 year anniversary from Roux-en-Y gastric bariatric surgery. I’m down 159lbs from my highest weight. My bmi went from 58.6 to 32. I’m beyond thrilled at my results so far. My surgeon wants me to lose atleast 15 more pounds to be out of the overweight bmi range. I go back in another 6 months and can receive a referral for skin removal surgery if I opt to have that done once I maintain. So it’s been a piece of my journey I wish I would have done sooner. However my close friends and family know I struggled with pursuing surgery for years.

Just a quick update! I’m a slow loser. I’m 13wks or 3 months in. I’m down 11.6lbs but the inches....OH MY!!!! I’m down 16 3/4 inches, 4 1/2 off my waist. I wanted to move to 18:6 weeks ago but got sick with sinusitis. My antibiotic must be taken with food so I’ve remained on 16:8 to keep my meds as late morning, early evening. So I’m letting my body heal and embracing the slowness because a lose is a lose. Still nervous about sharing belly pics here but oh well. It’s my journey and it is what it is.

Happy Saturday! I started a part time retail job this past week. I’m 4 shifts in with 16hrs worked. I promise you I’ve compared this to being a participant at the Biggest Loser ranch! Not because I’m being yelled at or wearing a shirt with my weight on it BUT instead because I feel like I’m being put through the ringer with this much physical activity. As a sedentary obese woman, this job is the equivalent for me. 🤪 I have a new appreciation for workers that are on their feet everyday. I originally took this job to crush some credit card debt quicker. Now I’m thinking the physical benefit will be greater than any paycheck. How was your week? Any victories or struggles you want to share?

7 Reasons the Diet Industrial Complex Hates Intermittent Fasting 02/17/2020

Great read about Intermittent Fasting. I’ve wondered why it took me so long to find this way of eating.

7 Reasons the Diet Industrial Complex Hates Intermittent Fasting The diet industry is presently scrambling to find ways to make money off intermittent fasting. I’d offer some links as examples, but I’d…

Hi all! It’s been 2 months, actually 9 weeks tomorrow, since I started my intermittent fasting way of life. The scale is stuck which discouraged me some but I’ve kept at it. However where this is disappointment about the number on the scale, there is JOY at the inches lost. Overall I have lost 10 3/4 inches; of which 2 3/4 off my waist. I’m still following an 16:8 schedule, eating between 11a and 7p daily. I know I have areas to improve by making better choices during my eating window plus adding in activity. This is still by far the easiest thing I’ve done and although I get stuck in my head about the dang scale, I’m feeling better in my skin. Thanks for continuing to follow my journey and please keep sharing your success or challenges with me.

I thought I’d update everyone on my 1 month results of intermittent fasting. Since I started 12/13 I’m down 6.2lbs - - yes that’s up a little since my last post but I’m okay with that. I didn’t gain all this overnight and I’m definitely not going to lose it fast either. Here’s a face to face comparison from 12/19 to today - 3wk pic compare. I am not letting the scale dictate this journey however it’s nice to see it moving. When I look at my pictures to compare I see a lot more than 6lbs. I see a more genuine smile, brighter eyes and definition coming back into my jawline. I also have belly and back pictures but I’m still to chicken to put that out publicly but I’m seeing less bloat and belly hang. So I’m finally in a mindset again to take control of my health. Honestly this change to when I eat hasn’t been very difficult and I’m still enjoying whatever I want. But I’m strictly following my 16/8 fast/feast window so although I wanted ice cream last night, I barely finished dinner before my eating window closed so I’ll enjoy my ice cream another day.

Fasting diets may add years to your life as well as help you lose weight, new study suggests 12/27/2019

Hi! It’s me. I know I haven’t posted in months....lots of lots of months. Ever heard of Intermittent Fasting? I tried it for a week in May but went on a vacation then didn’t return to it full of excuses in my normal fashion. It’s relatively simple. I was challenged to quit putting off trying to lose weight and started IF again Friday 12/13 since it is simple without much planning. I’m feeling better with less belly bloat on an 16hr fast, 8hr eating window of 11a-7p daily, water only outside of that. I was happy to have this article forwarded to me as most people just get criticized saying this is just another fad. I’m always saying you have to find what works for you. The past 2 weeks of IF have worked for me through the holidays and parties. I’ve actually lost over 7lbs and haven’t restricted anything with the exception of when I eat.

I’ve reached my breaking point. I need to put things into motion. I’ve spent today in a recliner because my feet and ankles are aching from being so swollen. I’m too young to feel confined to sitting like this to be comfortable.

It’s a gorgeous midwestern day. Take advantage of these cooler summer temps for outdoor exercise. I took a 20min bike ride on the path near my house now I’m enjoying the breeze and soaking up some vitamin D.

Hey guys I’m still alive! Lol. I haven’t posted in quite some time. I actually considered just shutting down this page. Mostly avoiding it like I avoid the fact that I’ve completely fallen off a healthier journey and sadly the scale agrees. I’ve returned to my highest weight and overall feel miserable, hence the thoughts of closing this page. I have a gym membership but too afraid of day 1 back. Silly I know but others can relate. It’s scary being the biggest one there. So yesterday I spent a good 30-40 minutes doing some w**d removal. Today, pic below, I spent an hour mowing grass and trimming up the front yard shrubs. I enjoyed the accountability this page gave in the past so I’m back. Failing or success, it’s my journey so here’s my current situation = starting over.
