Big changes are coming this October! ❤️✂️
I may be on vacation right now, but as any small business owner with ADHD knows, the admin/behind the scenes work always continues 🤣 I wanted to make a quick announcement to better help everyone (and myself) with planning! After a lot of thought, I'm making a few adjustments to my schedule to create a better long-term balance.
Beginning in October, my regular salon hours will be:
✨ Monday: 10:30 AM – 6 PM
✨ Tuesday: 12:00 PM – 7:30 PM
✨ Wednesday: 9:00 AM – 1:30 PM
✨ Friday: 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Sunday appointments are changing as well, in a big way!
Instead of a weekend day each week, I'll now be opening my schedule for just TWO Sundays each month (9:00 AM–3:00 PM).
These appointments will be reserved for current clients who have an exceptional need for a weekend appointment due to work schedules, childcare, travel, or other circumstances. 💜Because availability will be very limited, Sunday appointments may be booked up to 90 days in advance to help with planning. These spots are only able to be booked with me directly, not online!
If you know you'll want to continue scheduling on Sundays, please comment below so I can get an idea of who would like access to those appointments.
Thank you all for your continued support! ❤️

Today was my second day of welcoming clients into my new salon... one that I can finally say I OWN. ❤️✂️
📍611 Hammond St., Bangor
Life has such a funny way of coming full circle.
For those of you who have been with me since the early days of my career, you probably remember this space as the salon where I first started booth renting back in May 2020. I stayed here until December 2021, and it was where I took my first tentative dive into self-employment after only working in chain commission salons.
A lot of you probably don't know the full story of how that all started.
At the beginning of 2020, I decided I was finally ready to leave Regis Salon at the Bangor Mall and work for myself. Back then, it was pretty common for us Millennial hairstylists to spend years in commission salons building our clientele and sharpening our skills before making the jump to booth rental. Renting a booth right out of school wasn't the norm unless you had connections or the financial support to run the real risk of operating at a loss while you built your business.
It was kind of the Wild West. 😅 Social media wasn't the powerful marketing tool it is today, so building a clientele meant a whole lot of hustle and a lot of "walking uphill both ways." I'm honestly so glad things have changed for the better for the next generation of stylists.
So, there I was at the beginning of 2020 with my booth rental set up, everything ready to go by the end of March.....and we all know what happened at the end of March 2020. 🙃
When salons were finally allowed to reopen, I made the transition anyway. Between changing salons during a global pandemic and everything that came with it, I lost about half of my clientele. So, in true Sierra's Life fashion, I found myself starting almost from scratch while learning the ropes of self-employment and working multiple jobs just to make ends meet.
It's no secret that I've had quite a few moves and transitions over my 11 years behind the chair. The ADHD probably deserves some credit for that. 😂 But I've also never believed in staying somewhere just because it's comfortable or because it's what everyone expects.
People don't have to understand every decision you make, and honestly, a lot of them won't. That's okay. Growth usually asks you to get uncomfortable first. If I hadn't taken those calculated risks over the years, I wouldn't be sitting here today as the owner of this salon—and I'm proud to say I was able to do it without taking on debt to make it happen.
Through every move, every setback, every fresh start... my clients have been the constant.
To my clients, my few family members who trust me with their hair, and especially those of you who've been with me since those early booth rental days six years ago—you are the reason I never gave up.
When I often didn't have the support I needed in my personal life, you supported me simply by choosing me. When money is tight and life feels uncertain, you still choose to spend your hard-earned money sitting in my chair. That is never something I'll take for granted, don't notice, or don't appreciate deeply.
Thank you for believing in me through every chapter. This salon may have my name on it, but it wouldn't exist without all of you. ❤️

Hair extensions are not just for length! They're also perfect for adding volume. This client is wearing two rows of 16 inch long hybrid weft hair extensions-- the least bulky and most comfortable kind on the market. Most of my clients say they can barely feel them!
Extensions are highly customizable. Book your consultation here 🤍 styled-by-sierra.square.site
