I approach curls a little like an arborist approaches a tree.

No two curls are identical. Each one has its own shape, its own direction, its own relationship with the curls around it. Cutting them feels a lot like trimming a bonsai tree. I’m paying attention to where there’s too much weight, where something wants to open up, and how the whole shape wants to move.

When they came in, their curls were carrying a lot of bulk and frizz in certain areas, so I used a dry cutting technique to work with each curl exactly where it lives.

We also wanted to start creating a healthier ecosystem from the scalp out. I used Innersense True Enlightenment Scalp Scrub and customized the rest of the ritual around what their hair and scalp were asking for: MOISTURE.

Curls can get THIRSTY. 💦 They need hydration, nourishment, and for us to actually listen to what they’re telling us.

A little like tending a tree. 🌱

Pruning what’s weighing it down. Nourishing what you want to grow. Letting its natural shape do the rest. 🌀
