I think there’s a term for this: Dopamine Dressing… spreading color and JOY wherever you go, even if it means you get a few funny looks! It’s contagious & I’m convinced the students can feel the energy shift when they walk in my room. 💕 As our principal says every morning on announcements “make it a good day, or not, the choice is YOURS!”

The Art Teacher takes on NYC… had to bring a tiny sketchbook with me, of course! Tell me all the things we need to do and see (and eat!). We have lived in NY for 6+ years now and I’ve never made it in to the city!

Who knew a full drying rack would feel so good?! I spent the whole summer setting up and dreaming and praying for students who would come into this room. Yesterday I had classes in here all day painting & it just filled my heart. A bit messy and chaotic, but I loved watching them try new things and really explore the tools and supplies and get messy and make mistakes. Something so beautiful about just letting kids be kids and watching their creativity start to flow.

Week 2, let’s do this!

We are slowly starting to find our rhythm in the Art Room. Today the 4/5/6th graders started to design the outside of their sketchbooks. We also read “The Dot” by Peter H. Reynolds in honor of International Dot Day. Students were given a paper plate and a variety of monochromatic drawing mediums (ie: bingo daubers, crayons and markers) and encouraged to be creative and test out each material and try to fill the whole “dot” and make their mark. (I’ll share our Dot Day Collaborative Project when it’s completed!)

Another day, another cute pair of teacher jeans to share with you! Miss K. is such a sweet teacher & although we miss her terribly at SJRS, I’m wishing her the very best year at her new school- I hope Batavia knows what a good one they got💕

My littlest love started daycare last week. I can’t tell you how happy it made my Art Teacher heart when his teacher sent me this picture while I was teaching. 💕 He did SO great, no tears and jumped right in like he had always been there. It’s going to be a great year!

The sweetest, hardest working teacher (who just finished her Masters Degree!!). She loved and encouraged my girl back in 1st grade and will forever have a place in our hearts.💕 She needed some cute back to school teacher jeans so we made it happen! Have a great year

First day is in the books! So thankful for our school, so excited for this new chapter, so grateful to be there with my two girls, so thrilled to be able to share my creativity and talents with my students. It’s going to be a GREAT year!! (Ps: thank you to for my awesome first day of school earrings, I love them!)

Several people have messaged and asked if I will be painting faces at Wings Over Batavia Airshow this holiday weekend. Unfortunately, I will not. I made the decision back in May/June in order to give them plenty of time to try and find a replacement. I knew I would be a first year teacher starting my new job the next day and it just wasn’t a wise commitment for me to make this time around. I appreciate them hiring me the past two years & wish them all the best. I hope it’s a great year and everyone has a safe, fun time! It truly was my favorite event of the year and I’m proud that our community is able to make it happen. Hoping I can be a part of it again in the future!
