I’m about to start an argument… 👀

You can’t “grow out” relaxed or permanently colored hair and expect the treated hair to magically become natural again.

Your new growth is natural. The previously relaxed or chemically altered hair stays chemically altered until you cut it off.

And if you keep trying to hold onto damaged, compromised ends without properly maintaining them, they can break off faster than you’re retaining length.

So no… your hair isn’t “not growing.”

You may just not be retaining what you grow. 🤭

Respectfully… that’s not how hair works.

Honestly… hair is very simple, but it takes consistency and patience. But listen to me when I say….

LOC MAINTENANCE MATTERS. 🌀✨

Locs may look like they’re just “growing,” but there’s actually a whole process happening within your hair.

Locs go through different stages—Starter, Budding, Teenage, & Mature. Each stage comes with its own changes in texture, density, and how your locs behave.

And here’s something a lot of people don’t realize: every part of your head may loc at a different pace. 👀

The hair around your nape and crown may mature faster, while areas like your edges, temples, and other finer-textured areas may take longer to lock and mature. Your hair texture, density, length, products, and even how you care for your locs can affect the process.

That’s why regular maintenance is important. It helps keep your parts clean and organized, prevents excessive matting at the roots, allows me to monitor the health of your hair and scalp, and keeps your locs growing in a way that supports their long-term health.

Your loc journey doesn’t have to look like anybody else’s. 🫶🏾

Trust the process. Be patient with your locs. And most importantly—maintain them with intention.

Because healthy locs are the goal. Not just mature locs. ✨
