A common topic amongst spray tan artists. Be aware of companies advertising this.

Why can't spray tans be organic?

Self-tanners contain dihydroxyacetone, or DHA, the active ingredient responsible for creating semi-permanent color. DHA is a man-made ingredient, rather than a naturally-occurring one.

Typically, if a product is man-made, it's not organic. This is an uncomplicated indicator of whether a product is organic or not.

Although DHA is derived from a natural biological fermentation process, it still does not qualify as organic.

Companies that claim to offer organic spray tans are providing misleading information. Making false claims is illegal.

Claims of Ecocert-certified organic DHA are untrue. Hence, it is advisable to stay vigilant and avoid companies making such assertions
