Today's massage diaries.

Client, "woah, this sounds crazy but whatever you just did to my left shoulder felt better than my first time at Disneyland. Like, it released in a way I've never felt before. It gave chills all the way up my head."

Later during checkout...

Me- "How are you feeling?"

Client- "Idk, kind of perplexed..."

Me- "how so?"

Client - "well, I dont feel any pain in my low back. I've had a lot of massages, even had massage at OHSU and after I get up from a massage, I always still have low back tension and stiffness.... right now, it's gone. Its really weird. I always have pain there and right now I don't. You're really good at what you do."

Me- "I love that for you. I think the red light helped a lot. Has anyone worked your hips before?"

Client "no, they haven't "

Me- "well, there is a lot of tension and pulling coming from your hips and hamstrings. So, if those don't get worked on and stay tight, your lower back will continue to hurt"

Client "can i get some business cards? I have some friends who need to come see you."

I love what I do and I think its awesome that it shines through the work and is felt.

So grateful.

This is my why. ❤️

Massage is something I have naturally done for as long as I can remember, but there was a time in my life when I felt completely lost and unsure of what direction I was supposed to take. I sat down to meditate and, when I came out of it, I heard so clearly: “Go to massage school.”

I started that night, and I have never looked back.

Years later, I created Big Heart Home Massage and Healing Arts because I knew I needed to build a more sustainable life for my son and me. I was working full time as a massage therapist, but I still couldn’t earn enough to comfortably live here. I was also tired of employers making promises about jobs that weren’t true once I started working.

Opening my own business required me to face so many fears, doubts, and limiting beliefs—but I truly felt called to do it.

My intention with Big Heart Home Massage and Healing Arts is to create a space where people feel safe, loved, heard, and cared for. A place where their nervous system can soften, the outside world can fall away, and they can simply rest and receive.

Winning the Hi Five Grant would help me grow this business beyond what I can create with my own two hands. I want to hire another therapist, expand our availability, and add services like red light therapy that can help people feel even better.

I’m building the kind of workplace I once needed and the kind of healing space I believe our community deserves. That is my why. 💗
