PSA Deep tissue and Deep pressure are not the same thing 🚨

Ok, so here is the difference ⬇️

Deep tissue is working the muscle attachments and muscle bellies to create a little bit of inflammation in your problem areas. The inflammation created sends signals to your brain that the area needs attention. It is also great for breaking up adhesions, and realsing fascia in the muscles that are deeper in your body and hard to palpate during a regular massage.

How I do deep tissue💆‍♀️
I start by warming up the tissue with swedish (relaxation) massage, then I do deep tissue on the more superficial muscles, slowly working my way down to the deeper muscles in that area. If I find something that needs more attention, I stop and work until I feel a positive change. Then I slowly work my way out of the muscles. Deep tissue does not always hurt and you do not need to experience pain for deep tissue to be effective.

Deep pressure is the level of pressure. Pressure typically ranges from light, medium, to firm (or deep). Deep tissue does not need to be preformed with deep pressure only. You can have a relaxation massage with deep pressure. Every client has a different pressure preference and every massage therapist has their own range of pressure that they can or can't give.

Who is a good candidate for a deep tissue massage???
Anyone who is experiencing pain or discomfort and is looking for focused relief.

I wanted to work closer to home a few days a week as well as stay better connected to my community. To my Btown Clients- don't worry, I am still working at Bloomington Massage and Bodyworks and will continue to see you all during my normal days/hours ❤️ I am excited for this new chapter and I can't wait to see what happens next!
