I spend my days cutting hair in Belle Chasse—and somewhere along the way, I also wrote a fantasy novel.
In this video, I’m reading a passage from The First True Song, a funny, heartfelt adventure about Ayam Handsoom, a brokenhearted bard who leaves his con-artist family behind and heads west with a sharp-tongued gnome and a firedancer who is calm but takes no lip.
What follows is a story filled with music, theatrical rivalry, found family, bad decisions, and a group of misfits trying to do some good in a world that does not always make that easy.
Come meet the barber behind the book and pick up a signed copy for $15:
Saturday, August 8
12:00–2:00 PM
Retro Roast
Belle Chasse, Louisiana
We’ll also have coloring books and crayons for the kids.
What passage should I read from the barbershop next?
