🌿 Midweek Muscle Spotlight: The Piriformis

Every body is different.

One muscle I frequently evaluate when clients come in with hip pain, glute pain, or discomfort that travels down the leg is the piriformis.

While it’s often blamed for the pain, it’s not always the root of the problem. Sometimes it’s simply working overtime to help stabilize and protect the body.

That’s one reason I enjoy using myofascial release. Instead of focusing only on where it hurts, I look at how the body is working as a whole to restore better balance and movement.

One thing I’ve learned over the years.

Massage doesn’t have to hurt to help.

If you’re holding your breath, clenching your jaw, or bracing against the pressure, your body is trying to protect itself.

Sometimes the most effective massage isn’t the deepest one, it’s the one that helps your body feel safe enough to let go.

Every body is different, and more pressure isn’t always better. The goal is to help you relax, restore, and find balance.
