Jubilee Massage Therapy

I've been honored, the last several years, to give time and treasure to PREPARES, a volunteer-run Catholic community service which provides parenting and pregnancy support for families with young children. This guy's name, Kailo, means "miracle," in Hawaiian, and he certainly is!

In such difficult economic times for many of us, it boosts my mood and my faith to know that so many people understand that parenting is not just diapers (donated, or not). As a certified infant massage instructor, I was asked to gift some soothing and coping tools to a mom getting ready for a surgery and summer with older kids.

For those of us who do healing work, give it as a gift when you feel called. God knows the world needs it!

I was very fortunate this May, not only to fly to Tulsa to teach a class for the Oklahoma Chapter of the AMTA, but also to be close enough to visit my parents (that view is from their back deck) in Arkansas before flying home.

The weather was perfect. I drove through lush rolling grass full of young oaks, paintbrush, and buttercups in Oklahoma. In my home state of Arkansas, I took pictures of crawdad houses for Nola and some interesting local folk art (that's a Razorback); ordered Mother's Day flowers at Colonial Flowers (yes, in rural AR we sometimes include duck decoys in our funeral arrangements); and had biscuits and gravy with my dear friend Amber in Little Rock before flying home.

However. See if you can spot the photo of something I'm not happy with or proud of. There are two of these places on Main Street in Russellville. Think these places are doing "legitimate" massage? Hmm. Not likely.

While it's no better than what you see on Aurora Avenue in Seattle, they actually have the GALL to put these places on Main Street America.

Come on, America. I say we LMTs take back the legal use of the word "massage." Massage. Is. Not. "S*x work."

What an amazing honor to be invited to Broken Arrow/Tulsa to teach my "Incorporating the Breasts and Chest" class!

Special thanks to out-going Oklahoma AMTA Chapter President Lorinda Rose for getting me there, and to former student Solomon Torluemke for recommending me as an instructor.

This incredibly passionate group of people made me feel right at home, every step of the way (and with every latte)! I'm so proud of Oklahoma LMTs--who do not have the same professional healthcare provider status that we enjoy in WA State--for seeking more ways to help clients who can clearly benefit from this important work.

I would love to see a day when (1) ALL LMTs are under their states' Departments of Health as healthcare professionals and (2) where every state's AMTA chapter/interested group of LMTs is asking me to come share the wonders of what breast massage can do for everything from better lactation and scar tissue reduction, to whole body wellness and dysfunction.

Breast Massage CE, anyone? It's a beautiful time of the year to get the state's 16 required CE hours . . . especially in picturesque Arlington, WA.

For those of you who don't always want to travel to Seattle--which includes me!--this is a great option. I'll be teaching my "Incorporating the Breast(s) and Chest" class on Saturday and Sunday, May 30-31, 9am-5pm, at Arlington School of Massage (ASOM). ASOM is right in the downtown corridor with lots of shops and cafes. And, Arlington is less than an hour north of Seattle, and less than an hour southeast of Bellingham. So if you don't stay overnight, you have a reasonable commute.
