Hey all, I felt a need to share a new position I have taken on.

Obviously 2020 was a crazy year to say the least. Stress, anxiety, fear for our future all affected me in a profound way. The feeling of helplessness to heal and assist others going through crises turned into a deep desire inside of me to stop sitting on the sidelines and to get involved in making the world around me a better place.

I started seeking out opportunities to help others and was then introduced to the work the folks at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Whatcom County are doing right here in my community. I’ve always thought of the B&G Club as a sports venue for kids. But when I saw in the news last year that the Club was stepping up to save the Kid’s World locations from closing and keeping over 530 licensed childcare spots available for working families in a time of already unprecedented stressors, well, I decided that these were the types of people I wanted to work with and this was a cause I could champion.

I am proud to announce that I have joined the Board of the Boys and Girls Club of Whatcom County.

My initial impressions were correct. What a great group of people who truly care about those around them, that want to build a stronger foundation in our community by supporting the youth. Often underprivileged and even homeless, the Club provides a safe environment for nutritious meals, education and life skills. Some of the older Club Kids were even volunteering to box up grab and go meals for other families while the club was closed due to the Pandemic.

It can sometimes feel like the world is being torn apart at the seams. I encourage anyone who feels that way to go get involved in whatever capacity you can. The rewards you receive will far out way the time and energy given.
