•Using the razor, I brought her length up , which creates a much softer perimeter.

•Because I’m so OCD😆, I still go in with the scissors every few sections to point cut the line ever so slightly, just to make sure there are no stragglers.

•As I work my way up the head, I start removing weight in graduated sections. Think of this of this as almost like cutting a graduated bob, but internally, which keeps everything a little softer and more modern.

Allow me to reintroduce myself. 💃🏻
✨My name is Rachel (or rachicuts as some of you call me now 🤣).
🙋🏻‍♀️I’m a precision scissor and razor cutting specialist, with 12 years of experience, and counting.
•I started my career at ARROJO in the city, and have been on Long Island for about 6 years now.
⚡️I love teaching (my clients and any stylists wanting to learn cutting), and I never stop learning!
💥2023 has allowed me to venture into owning my own business, with 2 badass chicks, aka my partners, and I couldn’t be more grateful!

⚡️How many of you have had a negative experience with “layers”?!

✨My client here requested ultimately no shape, and blunt ends.
🩺After talking about it for a few mins (and realizing this request was probably coming from reservations based on bad experiences), and her showing me a pic of someone who had shorter pieces around the face, I decided to be suggestive.

💥I hear this more often than not- first time clients often express concern with layers feeling “chunky”.

🚫This usually happens when stylists take too big of a section while layering.
🔑Regardless of your technical approach (there are many), it is SO important to take smaller sections while cutting.
•These sections should also reflect the density of the clients hair. BUT, whether the client has fine, medium or thick hair, the haircut should NEVER be done in 5 mins.
‼️❌A GOOD HAIRCUT NEVER HAPPENS IN 5 mins!

💥How many of you have been struggling in the haircut department?

⚡️Or better yet, finding a stylist who will LISTEN to your needs and concerns- then be SUGGESTIVE as the professional?!

‼️This seems to be a very common trend in conversation with new clients.

🚫Unfortunately, there is no requirement for continued education in this Industry- which leads to uneducated, inexperienced stylists just “winging it”.
🆘This creates A LOT of terrible experiences for clients, which leads to people getting less haircuts and developing haircut anxiety. Yep, that’s a thing, 😅 and don’t worry, you’re not alone.
