I’ve always said that I have a lot of masculine energy. I really like that part of myself. Women who don’t f**k around and don’t sit down and don’t shut up are considered too bossy, too tough, too mean, and too assertive. I am also emotional, sensitive and nurturing. Women are more dynamic now than ever. We don’t have to be what you want us to be, we don’t have to smile and we’re not your sweetheart, so 🖕🏼
Also, let’s remember even more marginalized groups. BIPOC, q***r, trans, and non-binary people to start. They need us. A true feminist stands with all of us. ✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿

I have a lot of feels these days (I mean when do I not have a lot of feels?) 🤷🏻‍♀️I’m wondering if we will get shut down again and I’m confused about how that makes me feel. 😬I’m wondering if I’m doing enough for my community, for people of color, for my kids, for my husband. 😑I’m struggling with routine and with self confidence. 😳BUT. There are little lights occasionally that make me feel like everything will be totally fine. Examples: painting the super cute who is pregnant AND a hairstylist DURING A PANDEMIC. 🙌🏼Watching the sun rise once a week (thank you for encouraging me ). 🌅Oh and if you’ve read this far, we’re getting a puppy next month. What’s more weird, me getting a puppy or me being v excited to get a puppy? 🤔 🦮

Lately...
The salon has been open for almost 2 months. I’m so thankful to be in my happy place again, but I feel restless. Being a business owner is overwhelming at times. I’m trying to divide time between my family, my friends, my clients, and myself. I’m trying to make sure my co-stylists feel supported and happy to work at Spell, but sometimes it feels like I can’t do enough. Meanwhile Black people fight to be seen and heard and just want to LIVE. Our covid numbers here have risen exponentially and I’m nervous about my loved ones and nervous about being potentially shut down again. How are y’all feeling out there?
