Apprentice Program. K&I Salon is offering an Apprentice Program for current cosmetology students and future hairstylists to complete the required 1500 hours in a licensed beauty salon to qualify for the Maryland Cosmetology License.

Working in a salon under the watchful eye of a Senior Stylist and well seasoned hair stylists will give you a 1000 times more experience than a cosmetology school and save you thousands of dollars.

You will learn:

1. Basic Training – practical application shall be provided which shall include a minimum of the following subject areas:Tools and their use

Shampooing
Blow Drying
Understanding chemicals and use
Skin diseases and conditions
Anatomy and physiology
Ethics
Nail technology
Esthetics

2. Practical Chemical Application / Hair Treatments – hands on experience, shall be provided in the following subject areas:

Chemical safety
Permanent waving
Hair coloring, tinting and bleaching
Hair relaxing
Hair and scalp conditioning
Shampooing, toning and rinsing
Chemical texture serivices

3. HAIR STYLING / HAIR DRESSING – hands-on experience, shall be provided in the following subject areas:

Cutting
Thinning
Shaping
Trimming
Curling
Hair treatments
Marcelling

4. SANITATION AND INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS

Client relations
Sanitation
Personal grooming and hygiene

5. ESTHETICS

Non-therapeutic massage, excluding the scalp
Nutrition and health of skin
Skin analysis
Cleansing the skin
Mask therapy and facial treatments
Facial treatments
Hair removal, including tweezer method, depilitators, waxing and their use
Professional makeup techniques, including application of eyelash extensions, tabs and strips
Product knowledge as it relates to esthetics

6. Nail Technology

Fabric procedures
Sculpting procedures
Light cured gels
Machines or apparatus used in nail technology
Manicures
Pedicures
Hand, arm and foot massage
Other procedures as they relate to nail technology
Product knowledge as it relates to nail technology
