🍂 Fall Skin Reset: Your Routine Should Change With the Weather

As we transition from summer into fall, cooler temperatures, lower humidity, wind, and indoor heat can all affect your skin barrier. If your skin suddenly feels tighter, drier, duller, or more sensitive—you may need to adjust your routine.

Here’s how to prep your skin for the seasonal shift:

💧 Upgrade your hydration
Consider swapping lightweight summer moisturizers for something a little richer. Look for ingredients like ceramides, hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and squalane to help support hydration and your skin barrier.

🫧 Be gentle with cleansing
If your skin starts feeling dry or tight after washing, it may be time to switch to a gentler, hydrating cleanser and avoid over-cleansing.

✨ Don’t over-exfoliate
Dry weather + aggressive exfoliation can be a recipe for irritation. Scale back acids and scrubs if your skin becomes sensitive, flaky, or tight.

☀️ Keep the SPF!
Summer may be ending, but sunscreen season isn’t. UV exposure happens year-round, so keep a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ in your morning routine.

👄 Don’t forget lips + hands
These areas often show seasonal dryness first. Start using nourishing lip and hand products before they become cracked and uncomfortable.

🌙 Fall is also a great time to reassess your routine.
Your skin’s needs can change with the season, so the products that worked perfectly in July may not be what your skin needs in October.

Still very much true! Botox does NOT make wrinkles worse if you stop getting treatments!

One of the most common questions I get is: “Do wrinkles get worse if you stop Botox?”

Short answer: No. That’s a myth.

I hear this concern all the time, so I want to explain what actually happens — and I’ll use my own face as an example.

In the top photo, I had never had neurotoxin before. You can see the natural movement patterns in my forehead and the areas where the muscles were creating lines.

In the bottom photo, I’m past due for my neurotoxin treatment, meaning the product has already worn off. If Botox caused wrinkles to worsen after stopping, my forehead should look more wrinkled than before I ever started.

But that’s not what happened.

Here’s why:

1. Neurotoxins train the muscles.
When we temporarily relax strong facial muscles over time, they stop contracting as aggressively. Many patients notice that even when the product wears off, their muscles don’t immediately go back to their original strength.

2. The skin gets a break.
Repeated folding of the skin is what deepens expression lines. When those muscles are softened for several months at a time, the skin has a chance to recover and remodel.

3. Prevention matters.
Instead of constantly reinforcing the wrinkle with every expression, you’re slowing the process down. So when the treatment fades, you’re often starting from a better baseline than before.

Personally, I’ve noticed something interesting on my own face: my brows have stayed more lifted over time, even when I’m overdue for treatment. That’s because we’ve consistently relaxed the muscles that pull the brows downward.

The result? My resting position has actually improved.

The key takeaway:
Neurotoxins don’t make wrinkles worse when you stop. At worst, your muscles simply return to their natural movement over time. In many cases — especially with consistent treatment — people find their baseline actually improves.

Education matters, and myths like this keep people from making informed decisions about their skin.
